Last august I came down with a horrible colon problem culminating in spazms on the left by my hip - I was sick 8 months in horrible pain leading to er visits. 1 1/2 months ago I noticed a pain in my left hip when I tried to cross my legs. It stopped me cold. I thought ai sprained soemthing. Well it just got worse and worse and now I have I guess sciatic pain. It is on my left - shoulder to back of knee - my lower back , hip, but and thigh are affected. I also have some upper back pain and numbness in the upper back and behind my left knee. Last week my left leg losst strength on the street snd I could hardly walk. Now - walking more than 1/2 block kills me. I went to the er they did no x-ray -gave me a shot in the hip and pain killers. I was surprised about no diagnosis . I could leave walk around and possibly injure myself. I walked out of the hospital in pain. I went to an orthopedist 2 days later - he took regular xrays and said they were normal aside from a bone spur on my 3rd vertebra up from the bottom. He seemed to think it was nothing and attributed it to an old injury ( one I am not aware of) then he went on a big arthritis kick - I am only 34 - ok so rehumitoid is possible but it really feels like a pinched nerve. Plus I just read rumetiod doesn't effect the back. He wants blood work but I guess is going to make me wait a while in agony while he writes a note to my regular dr who will handle it ( he could have sent me right to the lab in the same building for this the same day) ok so here I wait in agony - he suggested a possible mri if the results from the blood are negative . I am in so much pain very nausiated and even find it hard to breath and they are going to wait around. Does anyone have ideas what could be going on , what I should do , how to deal with the doctor ? All help is massively appreciated and will not be forgoten.
Adittional questions..
What is a bone spur and could it actually be causing me pain?
Could my colon problem really have been a problem with my back ( they never figured out the trouble)
slipped disk - how do they diagnose and what is the treatment?
How could I get an mrt sooner and do you think I should hurry to get one?
Thank you again
