For someone who starts out with "that's
all I have to say" you sure had alot more
to say & while if one could be
bothered reading the garbage which showed
that you had not read other posts
properly!!
one could find some good information.
First however please note that 2-3 posts
mentioned cbt (this is not a drug of any
sort - it's a therapy - cognitive
behaviour therapy - & aside from being
offered free/cheap in many places &
only taking about 3 months to do the
course it has proven extremely useful for
many people.
I also mentioned alternative therapies,
including vitamins & minerals etc.
Please read before assuming &
condemning.
As to the ces machine I use one for a
combination of anxiety, depression &
severe migraines. My dr staed though that
not everyone is helped by these machines,
some people not at all, some partly.
In any case we are all different & so
often respond differently to different
solutions (regardless of what the
"solution" is) & we need to have as
many different solutoins as possible in
order to help as many prople as
possible.
But thanks for the info on the health fax
(my machine is currently on loan from my
dr so knowing where to get the same thing
cheaper is fantastic.)

Sorry About That... Posted: 06-14-04 08:57am
Sorry I came on so strong, I guess I was a
little excited.
Regarding ces and it not helping
everybody, i've heard that it is effective
in about 95% of the cases. Also, I have
found that the stimulation setting is
extremely important. Most units use a the
100hz setting and some employ the 0.5hz
setting, too. The 100hz will work, to
some degree, but the 0.5hz setting is much
more effective and that's what finally did
it for me. No depression or anxiety at
all, since. The health pax and the
alpha-stim are the only units (that i'm
aware of) on the market that have the
0.5hz setting.
I would check with your doctor as to what
setting you're using and make sure you are
using the 0.5hz setting. Also, ces is
something that needs to be implimented
daily, if the depression/anxiety is severe
enough, so you should consider owning
your own and using the 0.5hz setting
daily, sometimes twice a day, if needed.
The great thing about ces is that you
can't really overdo it.

I too can get over excited!!
My machine being on-loan is to see if it
helps me enough to make buying it
worthwhile. I use it twice a day for an
hour, on 0.5 or 1hz it does also have a
100hz setting 9this is an older machine so
that may be why new ones don't have the
1hz, although it seems weird to me to give
a choice of 0.5 or 100hz!! Three's also a
setting for frequency 1 through 6.
I will probably buy my own but I do want
to check out what's available & where
frpm (as i'm in australia one made or at
least sold here would be best in case of
problems with it).
Glad to hear of someone that has really
been helped & pray that I too will
gain alot from it >>>>>>
now if it could just help me win say
$1,000,000!!!

Hi everyone! Today is thursday and day 9
of my weaning. Yesterday I went on 1/4
so I will finish that one pill and then
i'm off!!! My brain feels soo much
better! I am getting back to normal. I
am still not sleeping well though. But I
have had a lot going on. Good things.
I went for a job interview on tuesday and
was able to do an interview and talk about
work related ideas and problem solving.
I haven't heard yet if I have the job but
I feel I do. They are to let me know by
friday. My disability was reinstated but
my work "says" they don't have the cheque
yet. I received my letter on monday. I
just love it when they keep screwing me
around.
Not for very much longer!!!!!!! I guess I
have to apply for unemployment sick leave
now as my benefits ran out june 13th.
Just in case I don't get the job I have to
cover my butt. As far as the weaning
goes, I have had headaches, body aches,
fidgeting, and diarea. But for the most
part feel better. My brain is
functioning much,much better and my
fiestyness is back! I can feel emotion
again, good or bad. I think the super
b-50 has been my savior. Take care
everyone. Talk to u soon and thank-you.

Cindy,
that's great - just remember to take the
steps one at a time & not expect
everything to change overnight & be
prepared to deal with hassles. Long hot
baths with bubbles or perfume or perfumed
candles can work wonders too.

and then and dizziness. But other than
that i'm okay. I haven't heard yet about
my new job. I was told the boss was away
over thurs and friday so hopefully today
he will call me and let me know. I hate
waiting, that in itself is soo stressfull.
I want to get on with it. Well have a
great day everyone! Cindy

Hi everyone, well I did not get the job
and my doctor is away so I have to wait to
file for unemployment. I still don't
have my cheque yet. Maybe today. How
long do these zaps last? I hope they go
away soon. It's raining here today so no
gardening. I got all of the unused dirt
put in yesterday. I am dissapointed and
now scared about my future. I have to
have an income of some sort. I still
haven't resigned yet from my old job
because even though I have no income I
still have benefits. Tomorrow is paper
day i'll have to start pounding the
pavement. Talk to u soon cindy

Cindy,
you must not get upset about missing a
job, some peole miss lots, what you need
to do is learn from the experience of the
application/interview process.
So you check & think what could I have
done better? Did I wear the right
clothes, talk too much, too little, wear
too much jewellery/perfume, not enough,
did I smell? Etc. Then you look at you
written application & if possible have
a friend you trust but who is hopefully
better at doing/assessing applications
look at it & try & revamp it. All
this can work in your favour in future.
Also think about what jobs you are
applying for, will you like them, can you
do them etc. It's also often a good idea
to know something about the business
before you turn up for an interview as
then you can answer questions better &
more comfortably.
Don't know how long the zaps will last,
everyone is different.
Dr will be back, so relax. The rain is
great - you're inside safe & warm,
take the chance to read a good book or
watch a good movie.

Today is day 5 of the zaps, oh they are
soo great! I told my husband the other
night when we were having the thunderstorm
I should go outside and stand in it to see
if that would straighten me out lol! I
still try to do something everyday though
and today is maybe cut the grass or do
some more staining. It is nice out there
today a little cool but sunny. I had a
crying bout wednesday night. I was
getting so sick of the zaps and the not
knowing where i'm headed and not knowing
if i'm still going to be depressed and
need more drugs which I do not want. I
called my counsellor to get in early
because my drs note is only good until
tuesday. I really seem to be up and down
lately and certainly in no shape to do my
job so in a way it was a good thing I
didn't get the job because what would I do
with the zaps. Better go now and get at
something. Cindy

Hi everyone. Yesterday I went to my
doctor and he told me to use the celexa on
an as needed basis to help with the zaps.
I took 1/4 pill yesterday and it didn't
seem to do anything. He wrote me out of
work so I don't ever have to go back there
again. I hope that helps! Today I am
officially unemployed. I got my papers
filed with ei and hope they give me
something while I am getting better. My
next appt. Is july 14th. I am still
taking my b-50 and a and c. I am just
going to take it day by day.
Talk to u soon cindy

Yes, thankyou purple and qt3 for all of
your help. I'm still zapping like crazy
and I try not to take the celexa because
it turns me into the tazmanian devil. If
I have something to do like cut grass I go
completely overboard. I even swept my
driveway and worked until it was almost
dark. I also got completely nasty with
my husband, and he did not need that. I
really don't understand how taking a piece
of celexa helps. The doctor said it
would help with the zaps but I took a 1/4
yesterday and when I went to walk up the
stairs to go to bed they were still there!
Doing my hair is another thing that
really sets them off. I have been
extremely tired the last few days. Well
I thankyou again for looking out for me
and i'll keep you posted on my recovery.
These zaps had better go away soon.

Could you descibe these "zapa" in some
detail - maybe that would give someone
here a clue that might help??

I thought you guys all knew about the
zaps. They are a withdrawal symptom from
the celexa. It feels like your brain is
short circuiting. Like electrical jolts
in your head. You are dizzy. They seem
to hit me if i'm walking up the stairs,
sometimes just walking, when I go to put
makeup on or do my hair. Some days
aren't bad if I can keep busy and keep my
mind off of them. Other days I am
exhausted. I can take a piece of celexa
and they are supposed to go away, but then
I am not getting off the drug and it
prolongs the symptoms. Thats the only
way I know how to describe it. Cindy

I figured I basically knew what you meant
by "zaps" but assuming can be dumb!!
& can stop the right advice being
given!!
The thing with withdrawal is that it is
different for everyone but one thing is
the same - the more you go back the longer
it takes so the less you use the celexa
the sooner the withdrawal will end &
so should the zaps - one thing though -
you say the zaps happen walking, walking
up stairs, doing make-up, brushing hair -
could part of their cause be like static
electricity ?? When I was withdrawing
hard & fast off some things a couple
of years ago my teeth just could not stop
chattering - I actually put a lipstick
inside my mouth as the easiest way (but
uncomfortable!!) to keep my teeth from
hitting so hard that I was scared they'd
break!!
Just give some thought to 1) static
electricity
2)
stress >> zaps therefore reduce
stress>> reduce zaps!!
3)
see if you can get a hold of a ces machine
it may help alot with much of what's wrong
& the effects of what's wrong maybe
even the zaps as a ces machine works on
the brains waves so might help the
zaps>> dynamind.Com also your dr may
know somewhere you could rent one to see
if it helps before buying - just remember
though that pharmaceutical companies
(& dr's with shares in them) don't
make $$ when you buy a machine once to fix
your problem but when you have to keep
going back for meds they do make
$$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Purple, I have heard about those machines
but I would be terrified to hook up to
one. I have to hope they go away soon I
guess. My clonazapam
does nothing for them but does still help
with the anxiety. I take 1/2 in the
morning and 1 at night to help me sleep.
I will talk to my counsellor on wed about
your machine. Thank you for looking out
for me that is so nice. You are a very
kind person and should have a big reward
for helping everyone! Talk soon cindy

Cindy,
i understand exactly how you feel, but
just do me a favour go to www.Dynamind.Com
where you'll see a picture of the machine
- they are operated by a 5v battery.
They're snall enough to fit in the palm of
your hand & all you do is attach an
electrode tothe lobe of each ear, turn on
& you actually shouldn't feel anything
as you should have it set on 0.5htz which
is too low for you to feel it just
intereacts which your brain waves &
adjusts them. You can turn up the level
to where you can feel it ( a setting of
2-4) just so you know it is actually doing
something.
This tiny machine is helping me to sleep
better, has reduced what were daily (even
twice daily) migraines to almost nil , altered my
thought patterns from severely
depressed/suicidal to - well i'm not sure
what normal is & I don't think i'm
there yet but this is a hell of alot
better!! it is also reducing
the number of tablets etc I need
(including pain killers obviously) plus
when my own arrives it has attachments
which help back & other pain - so less
pain again & again hopefully fewer
tablets!!
Please just go to the site, look at the
picture & read the blurb & talk to
a dr/counsellor about them. This is not
electric shock treatment not even by the
wildest stretch of the imagination. It is
also sooooooooo easy & convenient, you
can have it on while watching tv, reading,
whatever so it doesn't interfere with your
life.
