no responses I see....So i'll add a little more and hope that someone is able to respond.
I saw my doctor the other day and we have decided that I should stay on a keppra/lamictal mix.....2000mg of keppra and 400mg of lamictal. Things have been going really well for me since the keppra was added so we don't want to mess with that. He has told me to go ahead now and try for a baby...As for the risks, he said there aren't enough studies done yet to say for sure how safe this is for pregnancy but does not feel that it is dangerous to get pregnant on this drug.

So again, can anyone relate or has anyone had or knows someone who's had a similar experience.

Hi kathy! You might check out msn.Search it has quite a bit of information on keppra and pregnancy saying that to make sure to take folic acid due to the risk of spina bifida and to register for anti-epileptic registry and that most of the keppra can go into the breast milk, I am not trying to scare you or tell you not to get pregnant, this is up to you and your husband and the man above, as you know their is always a 50% of something happening to a baby without medication but I do wish you the best whatever you decide!

me and my husband are hoping to try for a baby soon. I was on epilim and tried changing to topamax but had really bad side effects so just back on epilim. My neuro suggested I try keppra but at the mo I am too scared to try anything else in case I have side effects agina and I can't afford to be having any more time off sick from work. I live in u.K and my neuro that there have been 15 reported pregnancies on keppra and all have been healthy babies. Hope this helps.

I am 30 years old and I got my tubes tied 6 years ago is there anyway that a person can still get pregnant even if the have their tubes tied, because my period is 2 weeks late. Please someone respond, sincerely rachel38501

thanks for your response! It was helpful to me to know that there have been successful pregnancies reported. As I said before, I have a child who is very healthy, but I was on a different drug when I was pregnant with her (lamictal). Before I started on keppra I too was really nervous about it, but I have to tell you that since i've started i've never felt better in my life! I feel my epilepsy is really well controlled. I have lots of energy and feel great! As far as a baby goes, my husband and I have decided to go ahead and try and pray that all goes well.

I know everyone reacts to things differently, but I have heard a lot of good things about keppra and can vouche for it myself, so if you really need to look at switching meds I would keep an open mind about keppra...Easier said than done I know.
