Can't Reconcile
Posted: 05-26-04 20:48pm

I can't reconcile my meter with my hba1c results. I get a meter reading of 200 (average) but the hba1c will be 6 or under? This has happened numerous times not just once.

I have more than one meter and use one to check the other. The difference can be as much as 50 points.

I feel hypoglycemic at times. I don't have any symptoms of hyperglycemia at all. I do not have frequent urination, I am not thirsty, I don't crave sweets etc. My vision does get blurred sometimes and I do feel heavy in my arms and legs.

I can test my sugar upon awakening and get a high reading then take a shower, retest and get a drop of 50-75 points.

Help?

Glycolised hemoglobin A1c
Posted: 04-17-08 03:47am

Glycolised hemoglobin A1c percentage (HBA1c) is a parameter used for estimating the blood glucose regulation in a longer period. Normal values for HbA1c are in the range 4-6% but in diabetic patients preferred values are 7-7.5%. Values under 7% decreases the risk for hypoglycemic crises. This might be happening in your case. You may need correction of insulin dosage so you should consult an endocrinologist.
