Q: Urgent Help Needed

My name is ashwin bundhan I am 27 recently married.I
came to know that I am hepatitis b positive (hbs
ag)..I want to know will I be able to give birth to my
own child or I will need to go for sperm washing or
artificial insenimation .My wife is been vaccinated
for hepatitis b & she is tested negative. Because i
use contraceptives .
Pls be advised what to do ???

Talk to your doctor. You must remember, you aren't talking to a forum full of health professionals here, you are talking to high school and college kids and dads and stay-at-home-moms.

If she has had the hepatitis b vaccine she needs to have a titus test and maybe she already has. This test will confirm whether she has developed an immunity to the virus or not (15% of people that get the vaccine do not develop the immunity). If it comes back that she has developed immunity than there is little if any risk. It should not pass to your child. There is a greater risk if she were to have the virus because she could pass it on during birth, but since she has had the vaccination it sounds like things will be ok. I would talk to your doctor and get her the titus test. If it comes back that she has the immunity then I think you will be ok!
