Who knows it might work. After explaining to a physiotherapist friend of mine that I have not had any really success with any of the people i've been to see about my tmj he said that while physiotheraphy can be benificial to try and find a professional sports : (read football/soccer/contact sports) doctor. He said they deal with jaw dislocations and tmj related conditions and symptoms on a daily basis and maybe could offer some alternative solutions or contacts?

Who knows, might be worth looking into if you feel like you've exhausted all other possibilities.

This would definitely help. A physiatrist is a doc that specializes in muscles and pain and rehabilitation. They can determine how your muscles are referring pain from the neck, shoulders, face, etc. This pain can cause headaches and the like.. But this type of treatment will probably not help functional problems or pain from the joint. A lot of times though, people think the pain the are experiencing is from the joint itself, when it's really the surrounding muscles. The muscles in our face (over 300 of them) are very sensitive. I think this is why a lot of people do not have success in treatment, they are treated for mechanical problems when it is really muscular problems. That's why this avenue should be pursued way before any surgical treatment or irreversible treatment is suggested.
