I am so frustrated. I apologize that this will be so long. I have always had a sinus infection 2 to 3 times a year. About 4 years ago I had a doozie that took about 3 months of augmentin to get over. Ever since then i've had either a sore throat, or ear pain, or congestion, or bronchitis, sore neck glands...Something all the time. I have been under an ent's care for 2 years. Allergy shots helped somewhat for about a year, plus steriod nasal sprays, zyrtec, etc. But since november i'm back to constant sore throat, bloody discharge from the back of the nose, infection at top of mouth where nasal drains, sore tongue, very sore neck glands. I feel like poop all the time. I've had the scope down my nose/throat..Founda growth which turned out to be errant tonsil tissue on tongue...(dont have tonsils since 6 years old). I've had a sinus ct. I've had 4 biopsies on various tongue sore spots. I take zyrtec, shots, sprays....Have had a constant need to clear my throat for 2 years. I dont know what else to do. I've done augmentin, celophin (?), prednisone several times, penecillan. They are going to do another scope next month. I'm fearful I have some kind of cancer...Can anybody relate to these severe symptoms?/

Hi there, yes I can relate to your symptoms. I too have had the constant sore throat for about a year now, along with a constant congestion, bleeding nose, cough and sinus infections. I too feel like I am gonna die! My glands in my neck swelled way up and hurt very bad, then a week later, while on my 5th course of antibiotic, all my lymph nodes in my body swelled up. My doc ran a bunch of tests and it came back as a staph infection of the throat and airways that was resistant to antibiotic. Doc put me on sulfatrimethoprim for 10 days and it stated to work, but slowly. I have been off the med now for 2 weeks and I am just now starting to feel better. Doc said I got it in my lungs and upper airways and that is why I am so sick. I have been very ill since march 20 with this recent bout, but thank god the sulfatrimethoprim worked cause I was about ready to jump off a bridge cause of the pain. I still feel real tired and my throat is still a little irritated around my left tonsil, but noting like before. You may want to have a throat culture done to check for staph. I had my blood cultured for it too.Normal antibiotics will not kill it. Nor will the allergy meds. I know cause that is what my doc tried on me too. Best of wishes, I know what you are feeling.Try some sulfamethoprim. Ask your doc for a prescription.

In response to Chronic Throat, Gland, Sinus Problems....feel Like I'm Dying
Posted: 05-22-04 8:28am, I was looking on the web because of similar chronic problems, altho not to the extent you have suffered. One thing that I found was an article about the good bacteria being destroyed because of using so many antibiotics. So we need to build up the good bacteria. I know there are numberous probiotics available. Perhaps that will be of help. I hope so.

I hear you...I've been like that all my life, since I was about 3. I suffered from bad allergies in the summer, had nose bleeds in the middle of the night. As an adult, I still have allergies, constant post nasal drip, have had turbinate and sinus surgery and I still suffer. Had my first nose bleed last night in years, but I have always had bloody drainage. I have given up going to the doctor for it. My nose is always swollen inside around the bridge. Antihistamines dry me up too much so I don't take them often. The previous post cjcarl has some good advice that I'm going to try. My glands used to be swollen all the time until I got my tonsils out. The sinus problems remain. I wish I could find therapy this works.

I see you posted this 3 years ago...I hope you are doing better

Here's hoping I don't bleed again in my sleep tonight

If I find anything that works, I'll share it with you.

ear nose throat problems cronic
hi i am a 34 year male. i have had drainage into my left lung, nose bleeds, ear infections, many years. i have had one nose surgery for deviated septum. this helped my breating and reduced the ear infections. however the other symptoms remain. currently i am getting alergy shots, meds, singular, perscription sudafed, nasal spray, rinse, atarax, and an antihistamin. some times i think this mix shuffeld my symptoms but after one day swiming. or cold air, i went back to my most frequent symptoms drainage into lungs, nasal congestion and sinus pain. next month back to ear nose and throat docter. wish me luck. has any body with these symptoms for years found relief. the bigest impact so far on my symptoms was the surgery.

Thank God I'm not alone with this
Sorry this is gonne be a little lengthy. I too have some of the same symptoms. About two years ago I must have gotten a bad ear infection. Although it didn't cause too much pain, it would feel like my ears were closing up and my hearing got muffled. This went off and on for a while and I was getting swollen glands a little. At the end of Feb. of this year, I got a HORRENDOUS earache that kept me up all night. Since then I've gotten this weird feeling in my ear (not so much as a pain, but like something just isn't right). It kind of feels clogged (especially when I first get up in the morning). I started getting this witchy feeling in the muscle of my neck, when I swallow I feel like a tiny pop or crackle in my ear, the tissue or muscle in my neck seems to be inflamed, my gland; or at least I think it's my gland; is swollen, and I feel a little dizzy. It feels like there'spressure built up in my e/n/t system. All of this happening on the left side of my neck/head. And also 9 times out of ten my nose is stuffed on the left side. Again I apologize for this being so long, but I just want help to ge it fixed.

Surgery
I have all of the above as well plus VERY bad breath and after 12 months I finally saw a ENT specialist and said I needed 2 surgerys. 1 is to remove my tonsils as the bad breath and tonsil stones come from there plus some stuff in my nose that has swelled up. I forget what it's called but he said I needed surgery.

Scared as hell actually as I know nohting about the procedures so I am going in to get a 2nd opinion.

I actually think i have found out what may be causing the problems I went Tuesday to an allergy specialist and they ran all sorts of tests where they prick your back with the actual allergen and well I am allergic to every freaking thing they tested for except cockroaches ain't that something! I am allergic to all grasses, trees, weeds, flowers, cats, dogs, dustmites, pollen, candida (yeast), which means I am pretty much allergic to myself. All these allergens have been releasing toxins in my body which cause to feel like crap, all the aches, pains, and just not feeling good. Also the post nasal drip contributes to the sore throat swollen lymph nodes throat infections also the sleep apnea I have developed b/c my allergies have spun out of control, so I get my first allergy shot in Sept they gave me a nose mist that starts with a v i use it daily they also gave me zyrtec to take as needed. Hope this all helps someone else.

sinus problems
Do these symptoms cause any of you to feel like sleeping all the time. I always have a masklike feeling of my eyes and the top of my head feels heavy, my nasal passages are open and drain but feel inflamed. The thing that worries me the most is that I always feel sleepy and have to force myself to get things done. And, therefore, my concentration is shot.

Post nasil drip caused bleeding
I have been suffering from some of the Dame type ps symptoms. About 10 months ago I got diagnosed with high BP. Just out of the blue my throat started shooting out blood. Went to the hospital, they checked me out even did a cat scan and did not know how to help me. When to my doc and he said my high BP make the tiny vain in my thrsot pop from all the irratating it gets from my post nasil drip. I got my BP down but my throat always feels kinda swollen and I have a little hard time swallowing some hard foods. I also have a swollen lymph node on my left side and some weird sharp pains once in a while in my left ear. Any body else have these symptoms?

I can relate 8biskit, I've gone past that stage now, I don't even get sleepy anymore, my heart just pumps extra hard, I've either made myself stronger or I'm hyperventilating more often, either way its not a good state to be in. My doctor suggested to me I have a low grade sinus infection (one that I've had for 6 years?!) but its the best diagnosis I've got right now. Just keep trying, the more physical symptoms you and can describe the better because its easier to diagnose and therefore easier to treat. Me, I have hardly any standout symptoms at all other than tinnitus and feeling like I have a cold all the time which makes it harder to diagnose and easier to dismiss as just depression or some other fluffy diagnosis. Yeah good luck, I don't want to live another year, at least death will cure it!
