I've known I have mental problems almost my entire life.
I'm flat out insane and I know it!

Problem is I like it.

I took a personality disorder test, and I know that I have the paranoid disorder, the narcissistic disorder, anti-social disorder, schizotypal disorder. All of those!

Here's the results::
disorder | rating
paranoid: very high
schizoid: moderate
schizotypal: high
antisocial: high
borderline: moderate
histrionic: moderate
narcissistic: high
avoidant: high
dependent: moderate
obsessive-compulsive: high

you see these commercials for drugs, and the side effects they have scare the hell out of me.

My biggest problem is that I am severely unable to assume the emotional responsibilities in society.

Later........

Stop Your World But Do Not Get Off!!

Well I just read your post (& I have read a couple of others you've put on other people's posts!!) & I do not believe that you're crazy or incapable of having a relationship or a job!!

I am not a dr, just a person, mother, wife, former counsellor (child, adult, family etc) mistrustful in the extreme of regular medicine & drs, protestant by birth but panentheist by choice, intelligent, with 2 highly intelligent children & mentally a mess.

Your post reminded me of several things asi read it: the student dr who diagnoses himself with each illness/disease (mental & physical) as he studies it; the person who is diagnosed by a dr/family/teacher with the latest "in" thing (currently add/adhd), the extremely bright person who develops in a lopsided way - myself & both my kids & many exceptionally bright people fall into this category. Etc etc.

You know nearly everyone can be diagnosed with tonnes of disorders (especially mental) if we try, we all fit several at one time or often, that doesn't make it true & even if true there is still the matter of degree (my son was severely asthmatic from 2 till 7 & now seems to have outgrown it by 9 - so degree) then there's what we choose to deal with & what we choose to live with & what we choose to ignore/or can't ignore.

Please don't misunderstand I am not saying that you're imagining everything or that nothing is wrong I am just questioning the degree of each problem & the reality of how much each actually has to impact on your life. I used to be able to go into woods now if I get near a plant I am just about incapable of breathing the fear is so great, yet I have no idea what happened only that it is getting worse (so for me the answer on this one is to avoid plants & definitely bush!!). Also with jobs & with relationships we (humans!!) often set ourselves up to fail (i believe that it won't work & guess what, it doesn't, we sabotage ourselves - not consciously Exclamation )

so my advice to you is to think now while you are young enough, what can I do to change the way things have been happening - there is a person on here "qt3" who recommends cbt (cognitive behaviour therapy) & a book by sam obitz, you might want to check that out. Also unless I am very much mistaken you are very intelligent & as you yourself said creative (but like so many intelligent people you sabotage yourself by expecting the impossible, perfection & nothing is perfect - what is perfect anyway, so stop sabotaging & start writing, painting, whatever & selling before you throw it out!!

Purple, thank you!
It's this sort of understanding that I think I need to hear!
Normally, when I try to talk about these things with people I get blank stares or half baked responses.
Although I don't know you, but based on what i've read so far you seem to be a wonderful understanding person.
Your children are extremely lucky to have you as a mother!

Thanks again...
