Q: Had a Partial Hysterectomy a Year Ago, Do I Still Need Paps?

Hello,

I am totally new here. I had a partial last year in january and my doc never told me if I still need to have a pap test every year. I was also injured during my hysterectomy, they pulled my ureter out of my bladder and I had to go back for emergency surgery two days later. They sent me home the day after my hysterectomy and never realized that they injured me. I was wondering if there was anyone else out there this has happened to?

Thsnks for any replies

Hello imalone5,

you said you had a partial, did they leave your cervix?
I think that if you still have a cervix then you still need a pap yearly. At least that is what my doctor toled me. You could call your doctors office and ask the nurse. Hope this helps Smile
god bless

Thanks for the reply. Yes I still do have my cervix, I only had my uterus and left ovary removed. So thanks again for the info, rachel

Extremely eHealthy
Hysterectomy
I had a complete hysterectomy and was told to still get pap smears every year for the rest of my life, especially being sexually active and having cancer, I would definitely check with the dr!
Sincerely,
sandy

I had a partial last year also and I was informed this year that I still need my annual paps.
