Last had sex 3 june 03. Taking progesterone only bcp (no missed pills, no other medication). Also used condom (did not break). Had normal period 23-27 june 03, but missed period during july. Had light period in august (at normal time), then normal period last week (timing, duration, quantity, colour). Took several hpts up to time of normal period in september. All were negative. No symptoms of pregnancy. Can I be assured that I am not pregnant, and missed period was a fluke? Thanks.

Yup, you should be fine. The tests were negative and you had a period, plus you are on the pill and you used a condom...Wow most girls should be like you!!! The one where you missed a month is just being irregular. I was like that a long time ago where I had one in october and missed november but the december 10 I had a period. I dont think its much to worry about. Great job on being completely safe though!!!

Nikki - thank you! Was a little concerned that no period in july followed by light period in august (but normal in june and sept) might be a problem?? Also - I can understand that maybe one (or real bad luck, two hpts!) might be "faulty", but not likely that about 10 would give wrong result. Long time since 3 june (he's away!) and absolutely no symptoms, so I take your advice and reassurance!

Hey your welcome. This is what I read if you ever get off the pill so you know. But you should be fine because you had condoms for back up (wise choice) so good luck!!! Plus I never count on my period to be on time, I always expect it to be late!!! So dont worry, you look like your ok!

The pill
all you have to do to reverse the pill's effects is to complete one last cycle and then stop taking it at the end. While some doctors say women can start trying to get pregnant immediately after quitting, others are more cautious, because it may take some time for your usual menstruation and ovulation cycle to resume. If your periods are back on track, it's easier for your doctor to predict your due date and to schedule any tests you may need when you get pregnant. According to obstetrician and fertility specialist john sussman, author of before you conceive: a complete prepregnancy guide, long-term pill use has no bearing on your ability to reproduce. If your periods are irregular after you stop taking the pill, they probably would have been irregular anyway. But, he adds, if you're one of those on-again, off-again pill users, you may have to wait a little longer to resume a normal ovulatory pattern.

There you go, good luck
