Ok, 29 year old male , non smoker/drinker, healthy otherwise, I have had this problem for about a year , pressure from the throat to my stomach, slight pains at times on right or left side, and the feeling of my heart beat gets very pronounced, burping, every night when I lay down to sleep, sometimes I have the pressure durring the day , but very light, also at times I get very hot and sweaty at night if it is bad, I have to sit up for a few hrs , once I get finaly sleep , I wake up around 3am or so and I am fine I can sleep laying as flat as I want .....Doctor has given me neumerous medications for acid reflux, but none help, I never have heartburn, and stool seems normal .... I just cant sleep beacause of the pressure and heart beat ... It helped for a while to lay sitting up , but in the last month or so it seems nothing helps , I have tried changing diet, eating earlyer , nothing helps, always like a clock when I try and sleep, I have had 24hr ekg and echo cardiogram, all looked great ( heart area pains were bothering me )

any ideas ??

I Am the Same?
Hi there,

for the last two weeks I have had pretty much the exact same symptons as you, from everything to the hot and sweaty to the need to sit up for a few hours. Usually when I get hot and sweaty I get very sick to my stomach but I always manage to not throw up. Everything is the sam symptons though...

Have you gotten any information, or found anything that helps?

Re: I Am the Same?
I have had a problem similar to this for the last few months. It happens on and off, but runs in streaks. I am now in my 4th striaght night of it. I fall asleep, no problem. Within 2 to 3 hours after I am asleep, I wake up with bad heartburn and a burning pain behind my left rib cage near my back. I always feel pressure in the abdomen, and I have cramping sensations until I finally pass gas. There is moderate relief shortly after passing gas but the symptoms usually start up again in a few minutes. If I am real lucky, I can go back to sleep in a few minutes after passing gas. This can go on for hours and I cannot go back to sleep because of the pain, which is always temporarily removed by the passing of gas. After I pass and the symptoms recede, I try to sleep and get nausiated when I close my eyes. In many cases I felt like going to emergency but I know the pain will eventually stop. I have had acid reflux and take medication i.E. Prilosec for that problem... This is something else, driving me crazy....

i too have been feeling the same way it all started when i was babysitting some kids and i was feeding the baby his bottle and i noticed my right arm going numb and a wierd feeling in my neck and then my heart started pounding and when i stood up my whole body started shaking, i thought i was having a heart attack. i have never had any problems at all or have felt any numbness in my arms, but i went to the doctor and they did an ekg and chest exam and told me i was completly fine, and thats scary for a doctor to say that to you when you know theres something wrong with you, this probly happend a month ago and i still fell funny most of the time, i will feel hot and sweaty and a little numb and sometimes i feel like i cant hear that good and my heart starts beating faster.

numb arm, painful neck, heart pallipaitation and body shaking
Two days ago my left arm felt almost lifeless and I had some pain in my neck, especially when I put my head down forward. It felt like a shooting pain in my left shoulder blade. The following day the numbness seemed to go away as well as the pain. Last night I went to sleep and woke at 3am to my heart beating extremely fast. I stood up out of bed and my whole body was shaking. This went on for I would say about 2 or 3 minutes but it felt like forever. I noticed that I was sweating and under my hair in the back was soaked. I felt disorientated as if I was not completely coherent sad2. This was the worst feeling I have ever had in my entire life. I am a 32 year old mother of 2 and all I could think of was I cant die yet! I threw on some clothes and went to the ER. I was given an EKG and a chest Exray. The doctor told me that he didn't see any signs of distress on my heart at that moment. He said he has had the complaint from many , many patients and there has been no answer. This is completely insane to me. This is my life and I want answers. I will not stop until I have some.
I came on this forum to find that 5 other people have had the same exact symptoms and have pretty much heard the same results, nothing. It is hard for me to believe that what happened to me has no explanation. I know that others have gone through this have suffered. I don't want to hear that I am young and this happens often. I want to know why this is happening to so many people.
If you have been through this then you know what it is like after the episode to stress wondering when it will happen again or even if it will be worse the next time. I am scared to close my eyes and go to sleep. If anyone out there reads this and has heard of this and has some answers Please help me put my mind at ease.

Thanks,
Lori

Same for me - think it's just anxiety - I've had what appears to be a lot of anxiety/panic problems over the past year (the word "panic" is a bit misleading - I'm generally not a "paniccy" person), on and off, getting more frequent and annoying. Have been taking a small dose (10mg) of Propranolol HCL for the past 3 months to counter the over-abundance of adrenaline in my system from stress and make the blood flow easier. But yea, experiencing exactly as above - also heavy weight loss, frequent urination at night - sometimes a heartbeat so weak that the only way I can tell its still there is by digging right into my neck pulse - other times a very strong pounding heartbeat (usually when I need to pee). Have doc appt next week so will chat more about it then. But I'm always better for a month or so after being reassured by the doc (after a few blood tests, ECG) that it's just anxiety, brought on by stress I guess. I'm only 27 but family history on the male side of keeling over before 50, which is I guess where the deep, ingrained worry comes from. First time I had it, I went to ED(ER) as I thought I was having heart attack. I'll probably visit doc again in 3 months or so when it re-appears Smile Basically just trying to make sure I have things to concentrate on so that I don't think about it, and hoping that one day I'll just forget what it feels like. Because it's definitely the most horrible feeling. I don't think watching "House" helps, either Smile
