My brother is suffering from moderate alcohol withdrawal. He has refused to be admitted to the hospital for detox, so I and my elderly mother are trying to help him through it at home. Symptoms are shaking, severe anxiety, nausea and vomiting. The doctor has prescribed ativan and another drug (related to valium) to help him through it, but it's having limited effect. Can anyone advise us on the best way to help and support him? We're pretty scared here.
