The other day when I was taking a bath I felt something sort of roundish kinda hard tiny ball like thing in my vagina I mean never noticed anything like this before. But it hurts so much i'm not sexually active so it's probable not an std but I have no idea what it is. I'm going to make an appointment to get it checked out but I don't know if I have to talk to my family doctor or do I go to a gyno.....I've never had a pap test or anything....I don't know who I should talk to.....My mom's going through a lot right now so I can't talk to her about it, I normally would, I don't want to worry her. What could it be???? And who do I talk to???? Any help would be great.

Re: I'm Freaked Out
I would have it checked out by a gyn doctor if it is on the inside of your vagina. I have no idea what it is, maybe it's a boil or pimple or something.. Anyway good luck to you

I have been trying for the last day couple of days to get through to someone with no luck what so ever. Last night I was in so much pain I couldn't sleep so I took a bath thinking maybe the water would make things feel better with no such luck that was at 2:00am this morning.....Then I could not go back to sleep. I tried the health center but it was closed...I tried a couple of gynos and they all say I need a referal from either a health center or my family doctor. My family doctor said that it was probable a cyst he hasn't even seen it and to go to the emergency room at the hospital and get it drained. .....Ummmm what ...I have never had a physical examination or a pap smear or anything and he's telling me to go to emerg. Our hospital is a trainning hospital for the university and so I would most likely have a doctor and a bunch of kids my age looking at me ummmm no. I'm in pain but I cant believe that the doctor assumes whats wrong with out checking me out. My step mom has an appointment with the doctor next week on tuesday and she told them that she'll give up her appointment for me to go so I guess i'll know next week does anyone know what to do to ease the pain till then. Thanks

It could be a batholin's gland cyst or abscess--i've had that, and it can be excruciatingly painful. You really shouldn't wait if you can help it--it isn't life threatening or anything, but if that's what it is, it will continue to get larger and more painful until it is drained. In the meantime, try aspirin or tylenol, hot, moist compresses, and if you can get your hands on some broad spectrum antibiotics, take them (but be sure to tell your doctor when you see him if you take meds). I'm only guessing here, based on my own experience, but if it's the batholin's, the Dr. Will make a small lancing incision (and you'll feel vast relief immediately). Depending upon the cultures and severity of infection, he might insert a medicated wick that will work its way out of the incision in a week or so, and prescribe antibiotics.
