First post to this forum, I like to bike and exercise daily, but I get hungry at night before bedtime, I eat a lot of fruit and vegies, any ideas or recipes for making snacks to pick at, something different, I know I can buy trail mix and other stuff, I want to make something low salt, something I can just pick at but yet healthy, low salt, and low sugar, any ideas would be appreciated.

I have the same problem too. At night I am usually hungry. I found raisins (although not the greatest for u before bed) is good. Same with oatmeal, yogurt. My favourite is pickles - they always seem to hit the spot (but these can sometimes be high in salt). I like eating roasted soy beans or pumpkin seeds as well...U can get unsalted. A small piece of cheese is ok. I sometimes eat a hard boiled egg before bed if I am starved, or I will have a protein shake. These usually hit my hunger. These are my suggestions!

Um, I get them at the bulk barn....Im in canada btw...So I am not sure if u are, or if u have bulk stores near u. Halloween is fast approaching....Save the seeds from inside ur pumpkin(s) and raost them in the oven yourself...That way you can put salt on, or leave plain. I usually do up a big batch around now, and get my neighbours to give me the seeds from their pumpkins too, since most people just throw them out normally.

Good luck! But, to be honest, nothing hits the spot at night than cold pizza.....Hehehe...But that is why we are trying to find good snacks...Just none taste like yummy pizza! *sigh* my boyfriend is a bodybuilder, so bland snacks are all we have! But seriously, pumpkin seeds are good because u can add flavourings to them...Such as spices. Smile experient.

Idea how about a smoothie? We make them for our kids when they want a sweet dessert but we want them to eat healthy.

Just combine frozen fruit (buy berries frozen or freeze your own in baggies) with a fresh banana, plain yogurt and/or soy milk and/or juice. You'll need a blender or stick blender, although you can also just stir it with a fork and then freeze it for a few hours too.

You can add all kinds of other stuff, like cereal/wheat germ, honey, an egg (soft cooked, not raw)... It tastes like ice cream but it's actually good for you!!!!

P. S.
Even I like it and i'm only 9! (that's my son's comment).

Health Food Stores
I was going to suggest a great store around here called trader joes... But I looked it up, and the closest one to you is 97 miles away!!!!

Buuuutt.... I'm sure there are plenty of other stores like it, where you live. It's a health food store. And most of them carry snack type foods, like dried cranberries, blueberries, or cherries. Nuts, and all sorts of mixes... Crackers, healthy soups, all kids of soy and organic foods. Veggie chips... Etc.

i hope this helps.

Choice In Foods...
There is no way anyone can answer that question without knowing the goals you are trying to achieve with working out, weight lifting, weight loss, and so on. Let's start here. What are your body measurements? What are you trying to accomplish (weight loss - weight gain - maintain)? What does your diet consist of currently?

I am a gym guru by night. By day I am a specialist on heel pain caused by plantar fasciitis and heel spurs.
