Getting Braces Removed Prematurely?
Posted: 05-09-04 13:05pm

I've had braces on for about 2 years, and the orthodontist is telling me that at least another year is required for one (yes, just one) gap to be corrected. Note this gap does not impair me in any way. Is it possible to get my braces taken off at my (or my parent's) will? Will they have to sign any sort of contracts or the such? Thanks for any help Rolling Eyes

I had braces a couple years ago, and I would think that if you were to take your braces off early that it will be very likely that your teeth will go back what they were before you got them. However I don't think that you can take braces off early, unless its for a medical reason or soemthing like that. If I were you I would wait out the extra year to get the perfect smile, then having my teeth go back crooked and what-not and spending more thousands to get braces put back on! In the long run I think that you will be happy that you waited.

I know having braces on at this time in your life is a realdrag, but if you complete them now you can prevent problems later on.If you think having braces now is bad, imagine doing it at 59!!!My boss(who is a dentist ) just got hers put on!!Stick with it,you'll be glad you did!!
