Q: Help! Bartholin Cyst Swells After Sex Sometimes!

Hi. I went to my gyn in jan. I was diagnosed with cervicitis (which had caused what I originally noticed-bartholin cyst). No std's or anything. I was put on antibiotics, and was fine within the next week. But, this cyst will never go away, from what i've read/been told. Every now and then, after sex, it is irritated, swells, and sometimes hurts so bad I don't want to sit down! Crying or Very sad
what can I do??? This is very annoying, and I have heard that it is just bad luck for me, more than anything.
Any advice would be appreciated!
Could this be a latex allergy?
Thanks!

I'm a veteran of batholin's troubles. First, has the cyst ever abscessed? If so, it will become enlarged, hot to the touch, and extremely painful. This requires lancing in addition to antibiotic treatment--and sometimes insertion of a temporary medicated "wick." once this procedure is done, you should usually remain problem and pain free for a long while, even years. Some continued enlargement is normal and chronic though, and eventual recurring bouts of infection are likely. At the first hint of pain or swelling begin a series of antibiotics and you may be able to avoid an abscess requiring lancing--hot moist compresses can also be effective. Fastidious hygeine is important, and never use any sort of lubricant other than water-based, like k-y or astrogel--things like baby oil, olive oil, etc. Are a definite no-no--they can prevent drainage of the gland and bring on an infection. Practice the "front to back wipe" and make sure that your partner's careful about his hygeine as well. It's important for women with batholin's cyst to have it watched carefully by their m.D. After forty because adenocarcinoma, although extremely rare, is a possibility during and after menopause--and removal of the gland might be indicated.

Bartholin Cyst does it ever go away on its own
I discovered i have bartholin cyst soon after having my baby. I have seen the doctor who tell it should be left alone as its not giving me problems. My question is does it ever go away on its own?
