numbness in fingers, extreme fatigue, stiffness in joints
Posted: 02-28-08 12:23pm

I have so many different symptoms I don't even know where to begin but I'll start with the most distressing things. I have numbness in my fingers, mostly left but can be on both sides. Pain and stiffness in shoulders neck base of skull, face and jaw. It is like my muscles are constantly spasming. My dentist is making me a mouth guard because of this. I have had numbness in my tongue, face, lips and ear as well as ear pain ( like an earache)

I have episodes of extreme fatigue, Iive had extreme muscle spams ( to the point of convulsions in my arms. Although I believe that these spasms were in my chest which felt like it was vibrating. I lose my appetite completely sometimes for weeks (which is very strange for me) I also experienced a full abdomen contraction as in pregnancy but I'm not pregnant. Tremors in my hands, trouble thinking, trouble getting words out or saying them wrong ( like my brain is working faster than my mouth.

Stiffness and pain in my joints in hands and feet, Swelling from my knees down to my feet. I also have a facial rash that i first noticed when I was pregnant many 8 years ago. It comes and goes and was terrible this summer. It could possibly be a malar rash, it kind of has that look. Of course now the rash has spread along my hairline and covers most of my forehead. It has speard down from my cheeks onto my neck as well as around my ears. It isn't a very dark rash but it's there and my complexion has gone downhill as well. I've had an MRI and it was clear, I've seen a neurologist and he's says sometimes people carry their stress in their jaw... I want to scream!! No one has suggested Lupus I've been trying to diagnose myself because no one will take me seriously... It seems to cycle and last fall I had I really bad "flare up". Please can anyone help. Does this sound familiar??

i myself have lupus nephritis and i read alot of books on lupus and it doesnt quite sound like lupus but it does at the same time. a lupus rash is almost always the same place; the name lupus original comes from people thiking it was a rash from a wolf bite (lupus means wolf in latin or something ilke that) the rash is on your nose and spreads to your cheeks and a little bit on your forehead. from my knowledge and research i've done the rash doesnt spread to your hairline and neck. joint pain is huge with lupus and i myself have had spasms but convlusions and chest spasms wouldnt make me think of lupus. i also havent heard of numbness is ears and lips for lupus. appetite change isnt really anything to do with lupus (medication will change it but not the lupus itself.)

but it still could be lupus. its such a werid disease. the stiffness and joint pains, the rash, especially since you first got the rash when you are pregnant (lupus is usually flared by pregnancy or by a extreme amount of hormone change) so its still possible.

find yourself a good doctor that can check you out!

start watching for hair loss, all-over joint pains, the rash, little red dots on your legs will represent low a plate-let(sp) count things like that.

Do you know what white spots represent?

I do have hair loss but not in patches. It seems to be an all over loss and I've attributed it to times when I'm under extreme stress so that's neither here nor there. I haven't noticed red spots, but would you happen to know if white spots signify anything imparticular? I get them on hands, wrist, legs and feet. Thank you for the help and advice.
