When I was married previously, my exwife
and I tried for several months to get
pregnant unsuccessfully. My new wife and
I have a son, however, I am not the
biological father and suspect that I may
NOT be the father of the new baby. My
wife gave birth in January of 07, and we
started having unprotected sex beginning
in March of 07 through December of 07,
December being the month of conception.
In January, she got a UTI and a horrible
rash (her doctor claimed it was PUPPS
which I know is not common for women
during subsequent pregnancies) then said
it was a viral infection and I'm concerned
that it may be a result of her having sex
with someone else, the biological father
of our son.
I'm seeing a urologist next week to have
my sperm tested. However, is there any
kind of STD or STI that can cause a UTI or
a skin condition that can cause hives?
She had hives on her eye lids, chest,
basically from head to toe.
A response is appreciated. Thank you.

I honestly don't know, but it's something
to look into. Talk to your Urologist about
it. Have you been exhibiting any of the
same symptoms? Did you have any
unprotected sex with other people before
having sex with her? STIs can remain
dormant for awhile, and it could be you
who passed it on. But definitely, though,
talk to the Urologist about it.

Well first I want to say that anytime you
suspect that your partner has cheated,
it's probably worth checking into.
However...
#1- your previous lack of success getting
a woman pregnant isn't really
significant... it can take a normal couple
a whole year of trying to get pregnant
before your fertility is questioned. And
you said you only tried for several
months.
#2- UTI's are so common in women, pregnant
or not and not caused by an std. In fact,
they could have been caused by you!
#3- PUPPS is a perfectly legitimate and
common condition that it wouldn't be
surprising if she had it, even though it
wasn't her first child.
#4- if she did have a viral infection, it
could be from anything. It could be from a
cashier she saw when she bought groceries.
You never know.
#5- You were having unprotected sex with
her when she got pregnant!
#6- I can't think of any std that causes
hives like that.
I'm not trying to discount your
intuition... like I said, if you are
suspecting, you should probably at least
talk to her or check things out. But these
signs you provided are not enough proof
for me to think your wife is cheating, or
that you aren't fertile.

Actually, her ex-boyfriend emailed me
recently and told me that my wife was
stalking him and his girlfriend and that
he had information that was "life altering
and would crush my world." Hence my
dilemma.

Ooooh... that is a dilemma. I can see why
you would be suspicious.
I mean still, that leaves two options-
either your wife is cheating on you (or
something), or the ex boyfriend is
insanely jealous and trying to make you
leave her.
But I can see better now why you're
suspicious. Good to see your doctor!
