Q: pregnant and bleeding ectopic ?

Hi my name is Jenna, I am pregnant for the first time and very excited! I started bleeding when i was just over 6 weeks(a week ago today) And of course assumed i had lost the baby, well i went in and the doctors said to come in every few days to check the HCG level in my blood. It has been going up just as it should, and on monday it was right at 2,000 so they decided to attempt an ultrasound. They saw Nothing, no baby and no sack, Fearing it might be ectopic they sent me to have a second one done to check my tubes and again saw nothing. Well they only waited two days and had me go in and repeated almost exactly the same process today (again they saw nothing, not even a sack, and it should already be to the yoke sack) But my HCG level went up almost accordingly(it was like 4% low) After both ultrasounds the are assuming it is ectopic and want me to take a shot to begin "flushing" the baby out of my "tubes" which is where they are assuming the baby is. Well ive heard of babys not showing on ultrasounds in my condition, and if they saw no baby in the tubes and no baby in the uterus I think it is wrong to just assume the baby is in the tubes. PLEASE reply and help me understand. I would love to hear more stories of similar situations, and opinions.

Are you absolutely sure you are at least 7 weeks? Coz anything below say around 6 weeks decreases the chances of even being able to see the baby on the screen so you may only be 3 weeks and not realise and this may be the reason you cant see the baby. Even tho your period might say youre a certain amount of weeks it may not be true if you have an irregular cycle (like myself - its been 12 weeks since i had a period but i have an irregular cycle making me ovulate at a different time and i had a scan which showed i am only nearly 11 weeks.) so if you are quite irregular then your period date may be even more out than mine.

What was the bleeding like? Heavy and bright read? Or more of a bloody discharge?

If there is a chance that you may not be 7 weeks then perhaps you should wait before you act upon the recent cirumstances if you believe the bleeding was just normal. I have heard it is quite normal for the body to flush out the old "crap" which sometimes occurs at the start of pregnancies. If this is the case i believe the bleeding would have been more like a bloody discharge (i assume like the end of a period or something).

A miscarriage from experiences that i have heard is likely to be bright red bleeding and heavy (i guess it depends how far along the woman is) and the people i know of found it very painful - but every woman is different so this is just a guideline im sure there are probly people who had painless miscarriages......

well my cycles are extreamly normal so i picked up on it as soon as i was pregnant, i might not be exactly 7 weeks but im close to it. But they say you cant judge the size of the baby by weeks because its different with everyone, but you can judge the size by the HCG count and im just over 3,000 so according to them they should deffinatly see something. I know its not a miscarrige because the doctors have told me its not. They are just scared it might bt ectopic, and i was wondering how many experiences/stories everyone knew on an ectopic diagnosis that was made VERY early with no proof (no sightings of the baby anywhere, uterus or tubes.) that ended up being perfectly fine. and just a false diagnosis by a negative doctor who is assuming the worst.

you would not be able to see a baby via ultrasound at 7 weeks. i only saw a sac on mine at 6. you will have to wait at least 2-3 more weeks

I had a look on a site and it said the baby should be visible by the time your HCG levels are 2000 so it sounds like wherever this baby is, it should be visible. Have they ruled out abdominal pregnancy? Ive read about a few cases of this lately surely there has to be a baby somewhere.... I had my scan at 8 weeks and the baby was very obvious to see, have you had a second opinion? I would get one

I had a miscarriage

What type of ultrasound did they use? Was it a vaginal ultrasound? Where they put a condom on it and it looks kinda like a penis? Or was it the ultrasound they put on the belly? The reason i ask is because if they use the one on the belly it may not pick it up. The cells are still dividing at this point. If they used a vaginal one, (which i hope) then if they cant see it you might have already passed with the bleeding. It is normal to still have HCG levels after a miscarriage. They reccommend that you go through 3 periods before you try again. I had my levels high for about 1 week after my miscarriage. If you were bleeding heavily like you were dying then it is possible that you did have a miscarriage and did not even know it.

I had a vaginal ultrasound at 7 weeks and i saw the baby crystal clear... but when we did one on my tummy 3 days later it was hiding behind my overy and my doc couldnt see it. which kind of ultrasound did they do? That could help us know what exactly might be happening.

I had my first ultrasound when I was just over 7 weeks. They attempted to do the one on my stomach and she could tell something was going on but couldn't see anything clearly (I drank all that water for nothing!) So they did a vaginal ultrasound and the baby was tiny but you could see both the sac and the baby clearly. At this point I would think they would be able to see something on the ultrasound...

Hunny, I feel like if your not in any PAIN & your numbers keep going UP, don't take the shot. I wouldn't! Your baby might be small, their is something called "small for gestational age".....maybe thats what is wrong. Who knows?! If your not in any pain, I don't believe your ectopic, I heard it is very painful! So, why flush out a baby that might be healthy??

7weeks nd nothing showed up

im 7 weeks pregnant and i went for a scan and to get blood taken today however wen it scanned nothing showed up. the doc said that either it had jst stoppd growin or it was ectopic. im a bit freaked out to be honest and jst wanted to find people in the same boat. if anyone has any info bout this kinda stuff pls let me no and ill do the same

this is not true. it is different with everyone. I have u/s pictures from 6.5 weeks and 8.5 weeks. the 6.5 week ultrasound showed the yolk sac and what looked like a tadpole with a flutter in the middle. the 8.5 week looked more like a baby, it's foot was even in the air (well amniotic fluid, there better not be air in there, lol!) It just depends. my first pregnacy i had an ultrasound at 6.5 weeks and there was a yolk sac but no baby to be seen.
