Hi guys and gals,

Well, I used to write with my pencil jammed between my index and middle fingers instead of held at the tips of my fingers. As a result, the left side of my middle finger near the top of my middle finger developed a callouse that got bigger and bigger. Recently, I tried scraping the callouse off with my nails as I've done in the past, only to scrape a crater out of where my callouse once was. Rolling Eyes A few days later, the crater filled up with new skin/flesh growths rising separately within the crater. I tried scratching the callouse out several times again, but I just got more skin/flesh growths growing out of the crater. Any ideas on how to permanently remove this weird callouse (it looks like the top of a sea anemone now)? Wink Its been really freaking people out

Vitamin E is a common recommendation from dermatologist for things like this. It can help to eliminate the excess growth of tissue from the pressure of holding a pen. Are you sure it is a callus and not a wart? What you are describing in the way it is growing back sounds like it may be a wart. Many warts will have small, pin prick sized black dots in the center. Your gp should be able to look at it and tell you what it is. Vitamin E is used for both of these types of growths.

Yep! Sounds good.

Also, in the future, to remove callouses the best thing to do is buy a pumice stone and then soak your hand in some hot (but not too hot) water for five to ten minutes. Then, use the pumice stone to GENTLY rub away the callous Smile

Thanx Eiri, I'll get right to it by buying a pumice stone. Oh Eiri, you have a new profile picture that looks like a mirror image of your old picture or something, its really interesting looking Smile

Yes, you described it perfectly. Its like cauliflower, with lots of little skin/flesh offshoots coming from the crater where I first scraped out the callouse. So what does it mean if its like cauliflower? One more thing, its not like cauliflower as in it rises out of the crater where I first scraped out the callouse. Its like a cauliflower within the callouse.
