Six months ago I had an abnormal pap. Just recently I had another one and it came out fine. Could it have been HPV? How would I know if it was?

However, mine six months ago came back with abnormal pap with HPV with the high risk types. Just went in and this time it came back normal. My doctor said if I have four pap smears that come back within normal range, than I can go to once a year. Sounds good to me.

Yes, mine was HPV with the high risk types. Sometimes these things happen. It is a test that only protects women as it is a screening device for cervical cancer. Thank goodness for that. Please don't freak out about it.

Please go to Kia Women's Sexual Health and there is a lot of good information on there for all of us.

I am sure that you will be fine. If you have had a clear pap, you are already on your way to being free from this thing.

Good luck.

most of all abnormal paps are caused by hpv. Although other reasons include; yeast infections, herpes, trichomonas, recent sexual activity, or use of vaginal preparations.
