Q: Implantation Bleeding or Early Period
asked by: hopelessromantic32 on February 26th, 2008

Well I've been reading a lot on this implantation bleeding & it seems like I may be experiencing it. Anyways, let me introduce myself, my name is Dawn & i'm sixteen years old. My last period was February 1st & I normally have a regular 28 day cycle, so I'm technically not due til the 29th of this month. Well on the 23rd of this month, exactly a week before I was normally supposed to start, I starting bleeding, not heavy like usual & it's not a red as it usually is, actually it's not even red, at all. Between the 11th & 21st of this month, everyday me & my boyfriend had unprotected sex, more than one time a day too. I know for a fact he only came in me once but he had a big problem with pre-cum. & I had to of been ovulated during that time. Anyways, this so-called-period that I'm experiencing right now is definitely a lot lighter. How to explain it though? It started off like a normal period, then quickly it got really light. I went from a bright red, to a pink now it's just a brown spotting & this is my third day of my "period" & normally it last five days. I used one tampon & one pad [neither had barely anything on it] so far, & usually I'm going through atleast two-three tampons a day. I mean I'm not even using one now, I only see the brownish/red blood when I wipe. I've had a period every month since I was thirteen years old & never once has this happend. & I did notice this bleeding I'm experiencing comes & goes. I can't say my nipples are sore or my boobs hurt cause they don't which is another unusual thing for me, usually during my period I have sore breasts, they do seem a tad bit bigger though. I have been peeing alot lately, - & I just went pee for the second time in a hour, & when I wiped the blood was very VERY faint, couldn't even tell it was there, barely. I've been eating alot lately too, these past couple of days. & another thing when I have my period I have a lot of clots, this time I've seen maybe one clot. That's it. & my cramps I've been experiencing don't even feel like menstrual cramps at all. I have very mild headaches, & little "twinges" in my lower abdomen. Now that I think about it I have felt ALITTLE nauseated & feel more tired than usual. Been burping alot too, & I believe I forgot to mention I've never been on birth-control. I'm just really confused. & by the way, now when I wipe I have nothing. This just isn't normal for me.

You are 16 years old, you have yet to establish 'normal'. Periods and cycles fluctuate all the time at your age.

In no way whatsoever would you be feeling a single solitary symptom of pregnancy. Especially if this is implantation bleeding. The zygote would need to be implanted for around 10 days prior to a pregnancy test becoming positive. Which is when you'd feel symptoms. These things generally coincide with when your period would be due. Most women don't feel symptoms until even after that.

You need to wait until your period is due and take a pregnancy test.

Are you just going by what you experienced or by what you've heard? I know all pregnancies are different for all women. I mean my period isn't really due til Friday & from what I read from other situations similar to mine, pregnancy symptoms are possible at this time.

Thanks for your help though, honestly can't wait to take that pregnancy test.

Medical doctors cannot agree on whether implantation bleeding is real. A VERY LOT of women have what you have, it can be as simple as mid cycle bleeding.

Why do you want to have a baby? Do you have a job? Live on your own? Have you graduated high school? Do you have health insurance? Will your parents approve of this? How will you support your baby and yourself?

I honestly don't want to have a baby. I have a job & I don't live on my own. I'm on my junior year of high school but if I do turn out to be pregnant, there's a parenting school for pregnant mothers I can go to & still earn my credits. I have health insurance just so happends I don't have my card on me, it's at my ex-boyfriends. My parents just said I best hope I'm not pregnant but if I am then they're going to make me go through with it, which I have no problem doing so. Honestly, I think that last question isn't a question I can answer at the moment, all I know is if I am I will try to be the best mother any baby could ask for. I may not be able to offer them ANYTHING they please. Although, I will do what I have to do to make sure they get what they need more so than what they want. My family I already know is going to be really supportive.

You went out of your way to get (possibly) pregnant. You're obviously on good terms with your parents, why didn't you ask them to get you on birth control? Just because your school has a place for pregnant girls doesn't mean you should become one. Have you told your boyfriend? Is he going to stick with you through a pregnancy? I don't mean to be coming down on you so hard but you have to smarten up. You can't answer how you're going to raise this possible child. You can try to be the best mother you possibly can, but you can't do that without money. Oh, and they can't make you go through with a pregnancy. That's illegal. No woman has to go through a pregnancy, regardless of whether she was raped or she consented to having unprotected sex a thousand times in a row.

I hope you're not pregnant. And I hope you realize that you need to get on birth control. As well, Ingi is right. You wouldn't have any pregnancy symptoms this early. Myself, at 19 have just experienced my first mid cycle bleeding, and I had a horrible headache the past couple days. And my frequent need to go to the bathroom was just diagnosed as a UTI. You're thinking about being pregnant, and you're imagining these symptoms, which a lot of women do. So, relax and DON'T worry about anything until you miss a period.

Did you discus wanting to have a child with your boyfriend? Why do you want to rush this? Why wouldn't you wait to have a child at least until you were done with high school and you and your bf were supporting yourselves?

How are pregnancy symptoms possible at this time? Could you just briefly walk me through the biology of this possibility?

They aren't. It is wishful thinking and could also be a bit of PMS.

Actually I've already decided to keep the baby, I went over this with my doctor today believe it or not, said it was my decision. & thanks Reptar :]. I mean I didn't want to get pregnant, honestly. But now that I am, I feel excited. I never expected something like this to happen to someone like me, I guess. I'm surprised & excited. Just don't want to jynx anything.
