LOESTRIN FE- missed period Posted: 02-26-08 15:49pm
I had a bad time with my pills this past
cycle, for about a week I only remembered
to take my pill every other day, so I was
taking two pills a day for about three or
four days. Towards the end of my cycle,
when I had three pills left, I forgot
again and ended up taking two pills on
Monday and not taking the last pill.
During last week I had about three days of
spotting, but not heavy and consistent
like my periods are now. I have not had
sex since my last period, meaning I have
had a period since the last time I had
sex. I was just wondering should I wait
and see if I have a "normal" period, or if
the spotting/stuff that happened last week
was the period I was going to get?

Hello ^.^
Actually- I am on the same birth control
& I have had spotting before &
after my period- since being on Loestrin
FE. My aunt prescribed it to me- and it's
pretty normal- as long as it's not
continous (everyday/month etc.) This
month too- I have missed a period- & a
few months back as well. If it's
consistantly back-to-back missing
periods/spotting then everything is ok.
Each cycle you have is different- (meaning
flow) so sometimes it's lighter, others
it's reverse or none at all.
Hope this helps

well, you weren't technically protected
during this time. Once you miss two pills
in a week you are not protected. So yes,
you could be pregnant, but it depends on
when you had sex and then when you missed
the first pill. (And the second)
But a test should be accurate by now.

Oh, I wasn't worried I was pregnant,
should I be? What I was saying, I haven't
had sex in about 2 months. I've already
had a period since the last time I had
sex, which was the period before this. I
was just so weirded out that this period
was so messed up, because I'm usually
pretty regular. I just attributed it to
how badly I messed up on my pills. I
haven't had sex this cycle at all; I was
just making sure there wasn't something
else wrong and it really was me just
missing the pills as I have a history of
cervical cancer and things like that in my
family.

No, because you have not had sex you
should not be worried.
IF this happened while you were sexually
active, then it would be cause for
concern.
ANYTIME you miss 1-2-3 pills, or take a
pill later than usual, you will most
likely have some spotting or bleeding, it
is normal.
You basically have to wait it out :/

You guys have been a tremendous amount of
help!
I spotted this cycle on and off for about
2 weeks it seemed like, with some days
being very heavy and others very light. I
never technically had a period, or what
I'm used to defining as a period, so I
went ahead and started my next pack this
week (like I was supposed to). Was that
the right thing to do, or should I have
waited to have a period? I was off the
pills for a week with light spotting at
the beginning and then nothing throughout.
But, my stomach has been cramping like I'm
going to start my period. Hope I did the
right thing!

You did the right thing.
No matter what happens with your bleeding
pattern, you should always start your next
package on time.

Glad to hear you're doing well! And yes,
you should always start the next pack!

Oh sorry hon, most the people around here
are usually asking if they're pregnant. I
should've read better.
Hope it clears up for you soon. Have you
thought about something easier like
nuvaring? Pills can be such a pain.

You know, it is a pain to remember pills,
but Loestrin was a god send to me because
before birth control, my periods lasted
over a week and the cramps were so
horrible I would usually stay out of
school for the first two days of my period
every month. I had a friend that used Nuva
Ring, but I don't know how well I would
fare with something like that- is it
extremely uncomfortable, or can you even
tell it's there? I've though about perhaps
the patch or something of that nature, but
I've read so many side affects and whatnot
I think I'd be too scared to switch. And I
definitely don't want to give up these
short, non-painful periods!

I had nuvaring... I could feel it every
once in a while, but it certainly wasn't
uncomfortable and most the time I never
even noticed it. Nuvaring was great! And
it also shortens/lessens periods for most
women (most types of birth control do
this, some more than others)
I mean, if you've found something that
works for you, that's great. But the
nuvaring is really nice if you have a hard
time remembering or have a hectic
lifestyle.
