Can You Tell Me What Happened?
Posted: 05-07-04 04:13am

I was driving to the store yesterday evening and got an immediate flushed sensation in my head & blacked out for a second or two; yes while driving. My heart felt as it had stopped beating & then came back with a clenched, pounding feeling. I got a hot sensation down the left side of my neck & into my shoulder and a numbing sensation down to my fingers. I had to pull to the side of the road because I felt dizzy & had to catch my breath, as I felt I was going to pass out again. I took several deep breaths & coughed a bit. Today, my neck feels tense & my left arm is a bit weak. I am only 29 and this event scared me to the point of concern. I have not contacted a doctor and wanted to rely on some suggestions from the audience. Can you give me an idea if I should be concerned with this incident? What are the chances that this could be a sign of future issues. Thank you. Amy

If all this occurred on the left side then you might have had a stroke. This is serious, see your doctor.. I have patients from situations like that, and I work on the icu.
