nerve pain after tooth filling Posted: 02-25-08 18:06pm
Hello. I am having severe trouble with
toothache. Having had an old filling
replaces (with white one) a few months ago
due to pain nbiting down, things have
gotten slowly worse. Last week I had more
filling on the same tooth as still
couldn't bite down, plus some filling on
the wisdom behind it (lower molar) because
the dentist found some decay there.
Since then the pain has gradually worsened
..not the nerves along that whole side of
my face seem to throb and burn. The
nerves under all my teeth on that side on
the bottom are throbbing..cant sleep and
have taken every pain killer I can find!
The tooth STILL hurts to bite:(
The nerve/jaw pain all stated AFTER last
weeks filling so I guess must be related.
Does this sound infected? Should I wait it
out or is the fact that the tooth STILL
hurst as awell, indicate that something
terminal is going on in the roots there?!
Should I trust my dentist? (She's been ok
til now and sees the family)
I am very miserable and unable to work,
think past the pain!

It sounds like an abscess. Go back and
ask for an x-ray of the area. It could be
an abscess in the maxillary sinus cavity
rather than the tooth, but it does feel
exactly like toothache. By the way, I
sympathise, having suffered from this only
a few weeks ago!
