Q: hard time diagnosing Giardia

I've been sick with an undiagnosed condition with symptoms similar to Giardia for quite some time now. (If you'd like more information about my symptoms, check out some of my old posts where I've described them in detail.) I've had several stool cultures done but they have all come back negative. I was wondering if anyone who had Giardia may have had a hard time getting diagnosed or treated or if that is something easily found in stool.

I've had Giardia twice. In addition to painful cramping, I also felt a very distinct burning. Both symptoms came on while vomitting , so I literally had it coming out of both ends (sorry to be so graphic). Both times I was living in Africa so I'm not sure if the Giardia strains there are more damaging to the system. Why do you suspect this particular parasite?

I suspect Giardia because I have been suffering from very strange episodes with symptoms similar to that of Giardia. Mainly I am talking about nausea, vomiting, diahreah, abdominal pain, acid reflux-type burning, and, most notably, horrible smelling burps that smell worse than anything I have ever smelled. They smell so bad that they make me and others gag. Sad
