have been suffering with facial pain for 8 months now. Nose pain, cheekbone, eye socket, pain behind eyes, at back of head, forehead pain etc. My gp diagnosed it as sinus probs and have had numerous anti-b's and nasonex spray. Eventually in was referred to ent where i had a camera in nose. The doc said i had pus in my nasal cavity and perscribed a 12 week course of nasal drops and spray with some more anti b's.
I have been back to ENT as no change where i had another camera and another doctor who said the pus had gone and as i have never had any nasal congestion at all with the other symptons, he didnt think it was my sinuses but didnt know what else it could be. He has arranged for me to have a scan on the areas concerned and my brain to try and rule out other things and mentioned it could be neuralgia and i may have to live with it. I have since looked up neuralgia on the net and my symptons dont really match those described.
I am starting to get really worried now that it could be a tumour or cancer or something...can anyone help?

I don't know what the problem is but I wish I did because I have similar things going on. I have a chronic sinus condition and recently had an abscess in the sinus cavity. It was treated with heavy antibiotics but I was told it would probably come back because my sinuses do not drain properly and, like you, I never have any nasal congestion because, quite simply, sinus fluids do not make it down my nose! Everything just sits there in a pool, fermenting into abscesses! Sad I have had the cameras up the nose and down the throat but they do not show sinus problems - you need an x-ray for that, which was how the abscess was picked up.

I am awaiting assessment for an operation now to sort out my sinus condition but I have not heard great reports of success.

Ask for an x-ray and/or a scan to see what is happening. Incidentally, it is unlikely to be a tumour as that is pretty rare.
