how did your husband or fiance propose? (i read a post here last night that made me want to ask this.)

my story is not very romantic, but it was a total shock so i'll never forget it.

it was our 6-month anniversary and we were on our way to target. the whole way there nick was going on and on about how great i am and i just thought he was being swoony. so we get to target and he asks for a hug in the parking lot. then he says "so, uh... i kind of wanted to ask you something..." and i looked down and he was holding the ring box. i was *shocked*, i think my jaw hit the ground. he actually did get down on one knee and asked me to marry him and i was looking around going "what?! oh my god! oh my god!" (i don't know why i was looking around, perhaps trying to find the hidden camera?). of course i accepted and then we went in to do our shopping.

and we lived happily ever after!

the ring, i couldn't have picked a better one myself!

Sad i never got a real proposal

mine was just a spur of the moment thing, we were messing around and trevor all of a sudden came out with "so you wanna get married?" i laughed and he said no really, so i said ok sure, then we just always talked about it from there then i got pregnant and we got married 20 days after i turned 18...such a lovely story aint it?

Mine isn't all that romantical. He brought up getting married (I honestly don't even remember when this was either. We just seemed to be so fitting it wasn't real shocking I guess)
So then we continued talking about it, and then he took me to look at rings and we picked out my engagement ring, and the 2 wedding bands. So then when we actually got the rings, we went to Burger King and when we parked he took out the ring and asked me to marry him. Kinda backwards, huh? Then when we announced it, nobody was shocked....and neither of us told anyone. My moms reaction: "I knew you 2 would get married"

miguel harassed me into marrying him. there was no one big moment. he just kept saying that we should get married. And he said it over and over and over and over...well, you get the picture. Finally to shut him up about it, I said I would. And it wasn't for romantic reasons either he just kept saying it because we lived together and he all of a sudden found Jesus. Rolling Eyes The funniest part of the story is that we planned out our wedding but everything (and I mean everything) from the cake to the caterer to the bridesmaids and their dresses went wrong. We decided to just go down to the courthouse to get married because we were sick of it all and when we got there a building about 1 block from the courthouse was on fire. Not a teeny fire either, I'm talking raging inferno so I took it as a sign and tried to bolt but Miguel and my friends chased me down. I must have looked absolutely ridiculous. The pictures of the actual ceremony are pretty hilarious, I look deranged. Laughing

Ryan took me to Manhattan NY on Dec 18 2006. We stayed 3 days at The Hudson. For such a nice hotel the room was EXTREAMLY small!! He took me everywhere he could in the city. Shopping, dinning, ice skating, horse and carriage ride through Central Park (it was so freaking cold!!). We were getting ready to go to dinner on our second night there then we were going to go to the Empire State building. While Ryan was in the shower there was a knock at the door. It was a hotel employee from guest services with a cheese and fruit tray with a bottle of champaign and 2 dozen red roses. I knew something was up seeing as how we NEVER have champaign unless it's a special occasion. This wasn't Ryan's plan at all! He said they were suppose to deliver the "goods" while we were out. Because he wanted to propose on the top of the Empire State Building. But seeing as how things happened differently than he planned he got down on one knee and proposed right then and there. Of course I said yes and no I didn't cry. We left, had dinner, seen the Empire State Building and then we stopped at a jewerly store while walking on the streets and he bought me a pair of white gold diamond huggie earrings. (I have NO clue where those earings are now...Ryan would KILL me if he knew that!). We were sick the whole 3 days we were there so we were kinda miserable the whole time but made the best ot of it!

We are still engaged a year and 2 months later. We are in no big hurry to get married though. It'll happen soon enough though.

The proposal I got was nothing like I was expecting and not romantic at all.

We were at one of John's buddies houses and the guys came in. I was sitting on the couch freezing (it was January and VERY cold), and John asked if my hands were cold. He grabbed them to warm them up for me. He then got on one knee and popped the question. It's hard to believe that was 3 years ago.

My story is a bit romantic, I guess. At least I think it was.

I got home from work and Daren asked if I wanted to go sit in the hot tub with him. So we went to the hot tub and he says "You know what happened to your ring, right?" (I had a "promise" ring and it had mysteriously vanished about 2 weeks earlier). I said "No..." with a very puzzled look on my face. Then he reached over into his pants pocket and pulled out my engagement ring and said "Will you marry me?" Of course I said yes and started crying (like the drama queen that I am). I guess he had taken my promise ring while I wasn't looking and used it to get the engagement ring sized. That was Nov. 14, 2004... not that I remember dates or anything.

I knew that Dan had bought a ring so I was sorta expecting it.

We were going to a Memorial Day picnic out on my mom's park land that she owns but for some reason I didn't think that anything would happen that day. When we got there Dan asked me to take a ride down to the woods on the 4 wheeler. So we got down there and we were sitting on a bench by the little river (more like a creek) and he asked me if I wanted an altoid, this was something that we did allot and I always bugged him whenever I thought my breath smelt bad.

Well, whenever I said sure, I'll take an altoid, he opened it and there was my ring. It was the one that I had wanted very bad and I was so happy that he got it for me.

6 or so months later we were married on New Year's Eve the next Christmas Day we found out that we were pregnant. Let's just say we have a thing with holidays.

Bridget, I honestly didn't have a clue. I was so afraid that he'd find out I lost it and get mad at me. So I never even asked him about it!

my husband and I planned a picnic together at a local place that has a small waterfall. (it was July 4th) and so I made lunch and packed it up in a basket (desert and all) we went up to the falls, and hung up some sheets on trees to make a little tent and played in the stream and falls, built a dam, etc. So...we ate and had our desert, and we are laying down on the ground, and he says, "you know I'm really happy, but you know what would make me happier?" and I'm like "what", he turns and says, "if you'd spend the rest of your life with me" He gave me the ring and I look at it and it's beautiful! He put it on and you could tell he was really nervous and I said that it was the most unique engagement ring i ever saw, (he proposed with the wedding band by mistake) So...we were married 4 months later.

My hubby made me work for mine. I knew it was going to happen, I just had no idea when or where. I was actually expecting it to happen on the ferry to NFLD when we were going over to see his parents. However, it didn't and I was so very disappointed. Anyways, we were sitting around talking to his parents and the next thing I know, is was down on one knee in front of me and I actually panicked!!!!! I had been wanting something private between the two of us, and I was like don't you dare do that right here.. So.. he made me work for it.. They have what they call the fish rocks, which is a very beautiful place on the coast of NFLD where he is from, and he made me hike through swamp and hills to get out there and he finally, with the waves crashing onto the rocks, got down on one knee and proposed. It was great. I couldn't have asked for a better place and afterwards he was glad I panicked because it turned out to be a much more romantic place to have done it Smile We have been together for 6 yrs this June, married for 3 in August and we have one gorgeous little man, Chandler who will be 1 in July. Life could not be better Smile
