Hope you are doing well. Have not talked in a while. Would like to bring you and the forum up to date on Janine's condition. A couple days ago she had an artificial heart implanted. It is the Excor pediatric. Pediatric because of her size. Berlin heart makes it. This will act as a bridge to her transplant. She was having a terrible time with her heart enlarging. The bivad was in the way. She seems to be doing alright and we are looking forward to her actually getting up and doing some walking. You might want to look on the web under Berlinheart. It will show the machine she got. Quite something.

hi there...very glad to hear from you. i am a little familiar with the berlin heart.i actually mentioned it to janine on page 18 here on the forum on 5-14-08.i had seen a show on it and it is something. the one i saw was for children but janine said she was like 5 ft. so i told her a little about it . im so thrilled about her getting that. i am told they are very well made and work extremely well.

Hi Suzy this is Jerry. Thought I'd let you know that Janine is recovering from a moderate stroke. Her speech is slowly coming back along with her strength. She should be fine. Hoping to get plasmapherisis started soon. Will stay in touch. God Bless.

oh jerry im so sorry to har about that. i can only imagine how scary it must be
i remember you telling me about the blood clots.i suppose one got away. i pray she will recover completely from all this. i am praying it will not be long for her new heart...and i hope she don't get depressed or give up. she will have a new life as soon as she gets a new heart. how is the berlin working out for her? was it the cause of the stroke? thank you for the update...looking forward to seeing her on line in person soon.hope you are feeling well.. suzy

Sorry I haven't got back to you,but just got back from vacation. Thought I'd let you and the forum know what's going on with Janine.
She has been quite sick, Between her dialysis, her stroke and her broken wrist. She caught it in the bed rail the day after the stroke.
They started Plasmapherisis two days ago and she is mostly sleeping through it. It probably will last about ten days. She should then be eligable for a transplant at that time. Don't know how long it will take . The dostor said she might have to have a lung transplant also,and that the first heart may be rejected because of her system. That would mean two heart transplants. She's got a long road to go. She can still laugh though. We enjoy our talks. Her family is trying to cope with the ordeal also. Her husband is holding up well.
I'm ok, having some valve problems, but no complaints.

hello jerry.im very glad to hear from you .it's been a while.sounds like janine is having a hard time of it. one thing after another.she may need a lung transplant as well as 2 heart transplants...wow...that would be hard on a well body.
i can not tell you how glad i am to hear from you.of course my mind runs away with me and i think all kinds of things.thank you very much for letting us know.
im sorry about her poor wrist.how unfortunate is that???really a bummer.
i hope you can find the time to let us know when she has her surgery...so we can all pray for her.
hope you had a very good vacation...did you get to visit janine?

Hi Suzy,
Janine had a heart-lung transplant 3 weeks ago. She had a childs heart implanted and the same childs lungs. She asked me at the time not to tell the forum for a little while to make sure how things went. She is in rejection at the moment. Mainly her heart is the problem. The transplant cardio is trying to adjust the right amount of rejection drugs which is making her extremely sick. She has some fair days and some really bad. She has alot of will power and will beat this eventually. She is just able to set up on good days.
Her family is doing well and are a great support for her. They are there everyday. she has kept her sense of humor and that helps everyone else. I wish we could have let you know earlier but it was her wish to wait.
She loves you all and hopes to talk with you soon. Thankyou for your prayers, Suzy, and all those in the forum. Keep them coming .We'll talk soon. Everything's good.
