I'am 10 weeks pregnant and on day 10 of having the mumps.... 8 days ago i went to the hospital and had bloods taken also i was given a scan and baby was fine..... Seeing as my mumps have not yet gone and im suffering with no salvia and more swellling i'm to have another scan on this coming Tuesday............ How worried should i be ? How will this affect my unborn baby ? Should i be freaking out this much ? This will be my 5th child and i'am 35 years old. Also how long should this be lasting ? Dr said it is lasting longer because being pregnant my immune system isnt so good............ but im sick of being sick ~pout~ Sad

Thanks for any help you can offer

pregnant with mumps
i read that if you are in your first 12-16 weeks of pregnancy and you have the mumps it gives you a slightly higher risk of a miscarriage, however there is no evidence that mumps can cause birth defects like the measles or fifth disease!! if you doctor has told you the baby is alright, then he's more than likely right!!! =) but since it does give you a greater risk for miscarriage then you should take it easy until you pass your 16th week!!! good luck!!
