I've always had a strong sense of smell, my family makes fun of me because of it. When I was pregnant it was even worse. In fact, if you've got the time, i've got a funny little story to tell about it.
We were renting a small apartment in hawaii. I kept a clean house which wasn't hard because that apartment was so small. The apartments were also kind of old and so the plumbing wasn't the newest. The tiles in the bathroom needed to be replaced, but I did my best to keep that bathroom spotless and sanitized. When I was pregnant, I noticed that there was a urine smell in that bathroom that I could not get rid of. I decided it was urine seeped under the tile from previous sloppy tenants or leaky pipes whatever. So, I called the manager and complained that my toilet must be leaking. They sent a plumber. He came and checked it out and said there were no leaks. I said, "can't you smell that?! It stinks! There must be a leak" he said, "no, I don't smell anything. And I can assure you there's no leak." I complained to my husband and he said he couldn't smell anything either. So, I had to suffer with the smell of urine in that bathroom for the rest of my pregnancy. Once I delivered my son, it seemed the smell finally went away.
But my sense of smell remains pretty keen. I always smell stuff before anyone else does. I just wish my eye sight and my hearing were as acute.
