I have been in serious pain in between my shoulder blades up into my neck for three days now. My chiropractor had me get X-rays and said I've got some arthritic issues going on along with some calcifications too. Nothing serious, just normal ware and tear with age, I just turned 40. My question is why is it when I swallow that my back explodes? I don't get the correlation between the two??? Could this be something else???

Yes, it sounds like there might be some nerve involvement perhaps caused by discs in your neck trapping a nerve. I think this will need to be evaluated by a neurologist. Meantime, no strenuous activity and try to keep your neck supported with pillows etc
