Hi my mother is in her 70's and has just had a tkr. Shortly afterwards, she developed cellulitis in her ankle. After leaving hospital, she has had stomach injections to thin the blood. Initially the ankle looked bruised but then became infected. She went back into hospital for a few days of iv antibitics and is now on a 2 week course of antibiotic pills (she is allergic to penicillin). She has 5 days of this course to go but the infection shows no sign of subsiding although it does not appear to be getting any worse or spreading.

Has anyone else had this combination and how did you get over it. What other 'treatment' can be self-administered to help?

Thanks for any help
