wounds on heels causing extreme pain Posted: 02-21-08 17:50pm
(Please excuse my long explanation)
Last Thursday (2/14/08 ) I was wearing a
pair of new shoes without socks. About
halfway to my class I felt pain on my
heels and assumed I'd have blisters. When
I got to class and took the shoes off,
only to find my heels bleeding pretty
badly. I walked back to my dorm barefoot
and didn't wear shoes the rest of the day.
I cleaned the wounds (soap and hot water)
then put antibacterial ointment and bands
on my heels.
Everyday I change the bandaids, I still
had to wear shoes to get around(with
socks,bandaids, and different shoes) the
wounds would pus and sting from the shoe
backs on them, so every chance I got I
took the shoes off. As of Tues, I've been
wearing flipflops (and my bands).
My left heel is healing very well and its
pretty much back to normal, its my right
heel I'm concerned about.
The skin around the wound has died (and it
seemed to have spread a little, making the
wound bigger.) I removed the dead skin
with a pair of clean tweezers and it came
off VERY easily, like it was about to fall
off on its own. In the wound area,
it%u2019s a dark red, outlined in a
reddish-pinkish color. It has also been
giving off a strange odor. I don%u2019t
know how to explain the odor, but its
nothing natural to me. (So it%u2019s not
me having stinky feet) Surrounding the
wound, the skin that isn%u2019t dead, but
in the general area has become a strange
pale-pink color. The best way I can
describe this wound is a lot like a sore
or a blister that the top has been freshly
removed from. I clean it every day with
soap & water or alcohol wipes, and when I
put new bandaids on, I add antibacterial
ointment.
I don%u2019t know what else to do for it,
and I don%u2019t know what%u2019s wrong
with it. What should I do? It doesn%u2019t
hurt to touch, but if I move around
(walking) when I step forward and the skin
is pulled tight, it causes me extreme
pain, unless I have a bandaid on. Thanks
for your help.
I apologize if this was a rough read and
if its not perfect. I'm new here and I'm
just really worried about my foot :/

Erm, I dont know what happened to my post,
but the %s are caused by where commas
should be in words and the title to my
post was changed by someone other than me
and its wrong...I am not in extreme pain
at all.
In fact, they barely hurt unless I have a
bandaid off and am walking/running around.

Go to a doctor as quickly as possible you
may have an infection that is getting out
of hand or an ulcerated sore there could
be serious consequences if this is the
case.
