Hey ladies!
So I had a tooth pulled this morning (I went in thinking I was just getting molded for a crown, but it turned out my tooth was cracked in half so they needed to yank it...) Rolling Eyes
Anyway, obviously I can't take anything more than Tylenol for the pain, but my question is, how much is safe to take in 1 day while pregnant? I took 2 this morning after the procedure, and now my mouth is hurting pretty badly, but I'm afraid to take any more in case it's not good for my little bean...Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks so much, lovelies! Very Happy

I think Motrin would be better because it will reduce the swelling, or anything with Ibuprofen in it. Ask your pharmacist what is safe.

No. Bridget it right. You can't take ibuprofen (motrin) when you are pregnant.

You can continue to take the tylenol as it says on the bottle though. OR if you are worried (because we aren't medical professionals), you can always call your doctor's nurse on the phone and ask her. She will let you know what you can take and how much of it you can take.

She can't use orajel either. It is a fresh wound. She can rinse her mouth out with salt water. When you have an open wound in your mouth like that, you have to watch out for dry socket - so no sucking on straws or using anything directly on the hole that might remove the blood clot. It would take longer to heal that way.

I would ask the obgyn cuz if your in alot of pain they might be able to give you something different that is still safe depending on how far along you are. I had a tooth pulled while pregnant but it really didnt hurt to bad.

I thought you couldn't get any dental work done while pregnant? my friend has a tooth that needs pulled and has yet to have it done because she was pregnant...

but yea, it seems you can only take the weakest meds while preggo, which really sucks if your tolerance is high. But you can take as much as directed on the bottle.

I had to wait on my wisdom teeth, b/c my obgyn wouldn't let them pull it while I was pregnant with AVa.

all doctors are different but its ok to get dental work done as long as they dont use anesthesia (sp?) local numbing meds is what they have to use.

my doctor has a list of things they can and cant do during pregnancy.

tylenol is all you can take and you can take it as regularly directed.

Thanks for the advice, ladies!
Yeah, I actually had a root canal on this tooth and was going in to get a crown put on, but it got really weak after the root canal and broke in half, so the dentist just had to pull it. Confused He just used novacaine; I checked with my OBGYN before my appt. to make sure that was okay!
I've taken 3 Tylenol in the past 24 hours, so I'm hoping that'll do the trick. My mouth definitely isn't as sore today as it was yesterday, so that's good anyway. Thanks again for the help, girls!! Mr. Green

Confused that's what happened to my mom. She had a root canal and her tooth ended up falling out before they could cap it... the things dentists will do to save money...

3 in 24 hours is less than recommended, so you'll be FINE. I hope the pain continues to go down!
