So far the allergist said chronic urticaria.. but i think it is the heat version because i have more hives in the morning ( after being under covers ) and also at night and when i exercise i get a red face and neck but it goes away quickly.. but the chronic rash on the body ( different parts of the body at different times) doesnt go away.
what about you? and have you ever done the low histamine diet?
also what medications are you on?

You sounds like you are having a cholinergic urticaria, one when the triggers are physical factors like heat, exercise, or stress. There are different physical factors, several types of that kind of urticaria exist, and it is not uncommon for a single patient to have more than 1 type.

Do your lesions (hives) last longer than 24 hours and are associated with pigmentation changes or symptoms (pain or burning)?

chronic urticaria
In the beginning i had alot of burning ..felt like my skin was on fire. and also got the chills. like a fever...i have had the hives since the beginning of January 2008,
when i get them they itch, if i scratch, they get red like hives and itch more. .i have been trying not to itch and put differnt creams on them. but i also noticied, when i go to the gym and work out my face and neck gets the hives and soon as i leave the gym it is gone... also, in the morning after being under the covers i sometimes have hives... any suggestions on specific soaps and creams ( over the counter ) that are good for this.. i have all the prescription creams and allegra 2 xs a day...

Have you been done challenge testing before making diagnosis of urticaria?
Is the primary lesion papule or plaque with a pale center and surrounding erythema (red area)?
Do the lesions resolve without pigmentary changes or scaling?
Do you find allegra helpful?

ALLEGRA is very helpful.. lately the hives have dissapated.. I have been also taking large doses of vitamin c as i read that it is a natural antihistamine and I think it has been working..my hives are like all over the place, every day someplace different. it is scattered all over the skin. no lesion papule or plaque. and when i scratch it gets more red and more worst.

What kind of tests you've been performed for diagnosing urticaria?
Sometimes, when the patient with urticaria is not responding well to one type of antihistamine, higher doses of more potent antihistamine or combination of two antihistamines, are given.
Be careful of severe pruritus or itchiness, because due to scratching you may develop scratch purpura (rash of red or purple discolorations on the skin) and excoriations (abrasion or scratch on the skin) that may become secondarily infected.

Avoid coffee, tobacco and alcohol, cause they may aggravate this condition.
Try to apply aloe vera gel to hives or add chamomile to your bath to reduce inflammation.
Vitamin C and B12 are important for treating hives.
You can, also, find the oil of the evening primrose herb, beneficial.

I have had chronic idiopathic urticaria for ten months now but since my Dermatologist put me on 1 x 10mg Loratadine and 1/2 10mg of Certrazine at night the weals are gone and I sleep through the night - a blessed release! I have also been using Magicool Plus ("treats itchy skin") (having read about this on a Forum somewhere) and - after writing very strong letters to our local Primary Care Trust - now have this BACK on prescription! The PCT tried to say 'it is not a medicine' but it beats all the other things such as Aqueous 1% Cream, Calamine lotion, Daktacort, etc., especially as I can reach anywhere with the spray and don't have to wake my poor ole hubby during the night.
As my dermatologist says, 'if it helps you then it is the right thing for you.' Basically the main things with chronic idiopathic urticaria is to accept that it may be with you for some time (chronic being 'long term') but once you get the right MIX of Antihistamines that work for YOU then you are more than half way there. I do hope I have helped other sufferers with this dreadful disease.
