Hey girls!!! I was jw can you ovulate with out having a period??? I have not had one for over 3 months now, went to dr. and she gave me provera...i took the pills for 10 days and have still not gotten a period. My last pill was last tuesday. We desperatly want a baby and this is driving us both crazy!!! I called my dr. office today and the girl that i was talking to said that i should still ovulate even though i do not get a period. How is that possible??? It does not make any since to me. Could you girls please give me some advice and let me know if any of you have been through this before??? Anything would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks for your help!!! Very Happy

You can ovulate before your period comes back, but you will get your period after that ovulation. Otherwise, each ovulation would cause the uterine lining to just get thicker and thicker, and that can't be too healthy.

Did your doctor's office staff mean that you could ovulate month after month without a period, or just once?

I think she meant you can go that long without a period and still ovulate. Once. It would just be a really long cycle. But you wouldn't actually ovulate monthly.

It can take up to 10 days from your last pill (of provera) to get af. I've gone 2 weeks before. Then there was one time that it didn't work for me at all and I had to do a full hormone cycle (both estrogen and progesterone) to start af.

Let us know what the actual doctor tells you!

Yes it's possible!
Hello. I got pregnant in December of 2006 but had not had a period for 5 months prior to conception. When we found out I was pregnant, we assumed I must be 4-5 months along, however I was only 5-6 weeks along! Unfortunately I miscarried at 10 weeks, but I wanted to let you know that yes, you can get pregnant even if are not having periods. I'm not sure of the science of it, but it happens. And don't worry about miscarriage related to it...it has nothing to do with not having periods! Good luck to you!

pregnant with no periods
I never had a normal period cycle. sometimes going a full year without a periods. Unless I was on birth control that would make me have periods but I had recently gone off BC and started having a period about every 3 months. I had sex once and he still pulled out even though I knew the chances of getting pregnant were small because I had not had a period for 3 months so I was very surprised to find myself 6 weeks pregnant.

when to expect period?
Hi mc4eva02, you said it can take upto 10 days after your last pill to have a period. Is this how long it normally takes as i am on microgynon and stopped taking mine on 2nd march and just wondering roughly how long it takes. Also do I count from the loast day of my last pill that I took? I know everyone is different but any info would be very grateful

So at first they told me that i was 17 weeks preggo, then i had to have a vaginal ultrasound and they turned around and said that i was only 7-8 weeks!!! go figure
