val was in the hospital last night/today.

we made a doctor appointment because the last few days, when shes sleeping, she has these episodes where she stops breathing fir a bit

well that was one LONG night, they did a bunch of tests that took until like 10ish (chest xray, glucose test, blood tests, ekg etc) and then i had to sleep on this little chair, then this morning the nurse sees me sleeping on the floor (i fell out of the chair) and tells me the chair PULLS OUT into a bed!!!! that would have been helpful like 6 hours ago ....bleh

well all that and now they think its just her reflux getting worse (but they wont increase or change her meds). the doc said that he thinks her brain is telling her to stop breathing when shes refluxing during the night so she doesnt asperate it, its terrifying but if thats all it is i can deal with it i guess at least it shouldnt be life threatening

however the doc also said there is still a small chance, but a chance non the less, that it could be SEIZURES, so if i notice it happen again and she doesnt breath for more then 20 seconds AND turns blue or pale to call 911 and bring her back in because then it probably IS seizures

so were home and shes happier now, she HATED being attached to all those wires, probably just as much as i hated seeing her attached to them, but hopefully shes ok

i just hate it that they arent even gonna try an eeg or anything to be sure it isnt seizures

so if im not on a lot the next few days or if i dont sound normal thats why

Aww, Alicia, I'm sorry!
Seriously, talk to the tricare docs about switching Val to Prevacid at the first opportunity. It is seriously the reflux control med I've EVER taken.

I can't imagine how scary that is. I don't know what I'd do if Oni or Nya stopped breathing. Even if it was just for *1* second!!

Jesus!

Good Luck!

thanks so much for the support everyone, it really means a lot to me

im taking her to her regular doc probably tomarrow, and im gonna see if they can give her a referal to someone else, maybe like a nerologist just to be 100% sure ya know

if they refuse im gonna go through her gi and see if he can get someone else to look at her, he already said once that she MAY be having seizures because of something else she was doing, and if it happened again to pay attention to her eyes and bring her back in to let him know, but it didnt happen again so he never sent her, maybe after this he will....i like her gi he ACTUALY helps

I'm sorry you and your little one are going through this, too.

As for using the eeg to check to see if seizures are the cause, are you sure the eeg would pick up anything unusual unless she was actually having a seizure at the same time as she was having the eeg?

ick, i hate it when babies are in th hospital! Luke has serious issues with reflux and they just switched him to regulin. it is amazing! he pretty much has no issues now. Luke will never be "normal" though so he starte things that other people say not to do. in fact, today my doctor said she thinks that the stages are all just a marketing thing. luke is going to be on stage 3 when he goes home and he is only 6 months.

.hopefully her doctors will change it. that is way too scary to be going through,
