How well do birth control pills work! Posted: 02-19-08 18:05pm
Okay well me and my girlfriend had sex
last night and we didn't notice until
after we were done that the condom had
broke. Its strange that neither of us felt
it but now we are both freaking out. She
has been on the pill steady for 6 months
and she never misses taking any. Is there
a strong possibility that I could have
gotten her pregnant or should the pills
for sure just kill it off. I hope that
those pills really work! Help anyone

BC pills are 99% effective.
Just some education for you..
You are not pregnant the day after sex..
It takes 2 weeks to be pregnant, it is a
PROCESS, not an instant thing.
The pill WORKS by stopping ovulation,
which means that it works by stopping a
woman from releasing an egg.
NO EGG= NO pregnancy

lol ya I know that it doesn't happen
instantly, I just don't want it to happen
at all every. I'm pretty sure that the
pills would do there job though. I just
want some reassurance, thats all. I don't
think that I would have had much sperm
left in me anyway. It was the third time
in two days that we had done it. (we
aren't going to see each other for a while
so we made the most of it , we aren't
like that all the time lol ) But would
that make a difference in the chance of
her actually being pregnant, because I
know that I wouldn't of had as much sperm
in me as if it were the first time or
something like that. Thanks for any help!

Can someone please give me a little
feedback here? Anything would be helpful,
I think that all of the factors in my
situation should probably not lead to a
pregnancy, just want to make sure though.
Thanks

Having sex many times does not reduce your
sperm count in such a way that would make
pregnancy unlikely.
I work in healthcare, BTW, I am a health
professional..
TECHNICALLY, if you were trying to get
pregnant, having sex 2 times in 3 days is
A GOOD THING!!
Her birth control is very effective, it is
HIGHLY, INCREDIBLY UNLIKELY that she will
get pregnant.
Do YOU WANT KIDS EVER? You could have a
vasectomy. Planned parenthood and other
clinics give Vasectomies to me no matter
how old you are.

Well its good to know that her birth
control is highly affective but worries me
when you say that it is good to have it 2
times in 3 days if I want to get her
pregnant. That really does worry me! Not
sure what to say about that one. Its not
that I never want kids, its just way to
early for me. Hopefully this having sex 2
times in 3 days won't be to big of a
factor and lead to a pregnancy. But you do
work in Healthcare, and if you say that
its HIGHLY, INCREDIBLE, UNLIKELY then i
really should believe you. You know what
your talking about.

When I say that it is good.. I was
referring to your comment about it being a
way to reduce sperm count.. Having sex
mulitple times does not in any way reduce
the risk of pregnancy.
Birth control is made to be the only
method of birth control used by a woman.

Okay I understand, So does having sex that
much in 2 days make the chances of
pregnancy higher or does it stay the same.
I just thought that you meant if you had
sex that much and then by the third time
it would be more likely to get her
pregnant, because the condom broke and
all. Just wondering. Thanks for all your
help.

No I did not mean that..
You guys could have sex 20 times a day,
and as long as she takes her pill every
day, she is 99% covered.
You could also use a condom too if you are
worried, or add a spermicide gel on top of
the pill.
