So we filed our taxes 3 weeks ago usually electronically filing it takes 2 weeks to get it back, well i tried to look up wheres my refund and it gave me some error message. So I called the IRS and they said they havent even received it yet so it hasnt even been filed. So now im confused, they gave us copies of all the papers and such and pins are on there for our electronic signature and everything so I dont get how did it not get filed? Yet we got the copies of the papers back? So tomorow jason has to go up there and ask them what is up, the lady that did our taxes was a lil loopy and running all over that day but we did our 2006 taxes as well to have them amended but we had to mail those in seperate so now im lost and confused and alil mad.

When you filed them, it never said "errors"?

I'd be pissed too! Make sure Jason gives them an earful!!

I hope you get everything sorted out! I know it can be frustrating...

3 different people were relying on my fiancee's taxes (about 4500) and the IRS decided to take every single penny of it.

no , no errors, if there were errors at all the IRS would have received it and rejected it but they havent even got it. So they told us we need to go to the office and ask them about if they filed it or not, i dont get how it wasnt filed when she gave us all our papers back and stuff. Shoulda called the IRS after a week but i waited a couple weeks since last yr it took 2 weeks . I thought last yr it would take alot longer but it didnt, they say 3 weeks max so i waited and nothing. They didnt do something right maybe she forgot to click SEND. lol

Whyd they do that, did he owe money or something?
We owe money from 2005 wich we werent aware of until 2006 so we amended 2006 when we filed this years but we owe like 2,600 and we are getting back more then that, but i know they didnt take ours cuz they havent even received it as being filed yet. The IRS took money out of my parents bank account when they owed , well they did everymonth but one month they messed up and took out alot more then that, they are quick to take your money but slow at giving it back.

Ain't that the truth!!! One year, my husband owed for claiming his kids in error (he should have listened to me when I told him he couldn't!!). They took our entire refund the next year and we had to go through a long drawn out process to prove that he could claim his daughter, just not his son. We finally won his case, but it took almost 6 months to get the money back.

jeez, wow 6 months. Im almost sure there are no errors on mine, and i hope when they do receive it they dont take it all because we only owe them 2,600 and we have 180 days to pay t hem that and we are getting 6006. but who knows with them lol. It seems like it would be such a pain to fix all that and alot of time id get tired of it lol.

Becuase you owe 'back' taxes, they are more than likely holding your taxes until they take out what money is due. I am amazed your tax preparer didn't explain this to you. Please call her manager and complain!

You will NEVER get your taxes back efile direct deposit within 2 weeks if you owe a single red cent to the IRS. It can take up to 6-8 weeks.

Good luck!

Does he owe back taxes and/or child support? Those debts come out of the tax return first, then he gets whatever is left (if there is any). At least he is $4500 closer to being out of debt!

They havent received it to hold them, and they didnt amend this years they amended last yrs with that, they told us they either will take what we owe out right away or we will receive our full refund and we will have to call them and pay them once we receive it. Basically we didnt put the savings bond on 2005 taxes because i wasnt aware of it at the time, his mom cashed it for him etc, I didnt know about it until the IRS mailed us a bunch of stuff saying that it wasnt added in. The tax people here didnt tell us anything, basically they didnt really know much about it but weve spoke to the IRS about it plenty. The 2006 taxes take 90 days she said the IRS told us. Because we amended those becauase we had to do it for his savings bond and add jordynne to them. The lady that did our taxes was on the other ladies computer doing them becauase we had to file for NC state taxes as well because hsi residence is NC, I think she just did something not right because there is a diff program on the computer she used verses her own, Tomorow jasons gonna go up there and find out why it hasnt been filed yet when its been 3 weeks already. The IRS hasnt received anything for 2007 taxes at all yet we got the paperwork after the lady did them for us so i dunno what happened there.

Call the office. They didn't send it. It is completed and probably sitting filed away in a drawer. Demand your money back. You shouldn't have to pay for a service you did not get.

I used to work in a tax office. You will not get your refund in 2 weeks - whether you filed an ammendment for '06 or not. If you owe money, you owe money. Period. Even if you did mail your ammendment, they haven't figured it into their system yet. Ammendments are secondary to this years tax returns.

We didnt pay to get our taxes done, they do em at finance on base here for free since we are military. 2006 was mailed in 2007 was supposed to be efiled. But it hasnt been filed, I think they received 2006 already but of course they have to process it etc and the lady told me that will take 90 days so moer then 6 weeks more like almost 12 weeks but im not worried about that we get like 1700 back on that. Like I dont know what the morons here did honestly, because they had no idea what to do about us owing from the savings bond so they didnt put that on there but weve been in contact with IRS throughout the year regaurding that and they are aware that we owe etc but they might not take it out before we get our taxes back , something with something being on hold because jason was deployed part of last year i dont know exactly because I had jason talk to them since it was his savings bond, but efile here takes 2 weeks 3 at most to receive yoru refund if you got it direct deposited into your checking account or any other account. Paper filing takes 6 or more weeks. Last year when we did our taxes we got them in our bank account within 2 weeks because i figured it would have taken longer and we would have gotten them well after my parents already visited and left but we got em the day before my parents got here to visit us. On the IRS site it said 3 weeks efiling. Before that I have no clue in 06 I did my taxes at H and R block and paid $230 cuz we had like 5 different w-2's but i have no idea how long that took to get back we just always get it to go straight to our bank account. Jasons gonna bring the paper up there and talk to the other lady that works in the tax office that did ours last year to make sure they send it out! That other lady was a bit airheadish that day when we did them last month.

yea right, he's supposed to be GETTING child support. Which doesn't happen. He got a check last year for about 20 cents. But he has student loans from 10 YEARS ago, so that's why we are wondering why they are taking it NOW. They've taken his state taxes the past two years, but didn't touch his federal.

Probably because they hadn't yet put a lein on his federal taxes.

I thought his son's mother had died. Who is paying child support?

Yeah, that sounded a little like it got filed away with no follow up. If she efiled them yesterday, you should get them next Friday.

go to irs.gov and check it out. You have to have your SSN's, your filing status and the exact amount of your refund.

I got mine in less than two weeks. I was more than happy about that!

Good luck Diane
