multiple hairs in one follicle on face and chest Posted: 02-19-08 01:58am
Today I used one of those Biore pore
cleaning strips that you put on the top of
your nose that pull out the blackheads. I
had what myself and my fiancee thought
were ALOT of blackheads. Upon removal of
the strip, which was COVERED with thick,
dark "blackheads" my fiancee took a closer
look and discovered that they were not
blackheads at all. They were actually
tiny "tufts" of hair. When looking at
each thick, dark hair, it became apparent
that it wasnt just one hair, it was 3-5
hairs together in one follicle or pore in
this case. She noticed that I had the
same thing on my chest a few months ago.
Tiny, smaller than a centimeter long,
THICK, dark hairs. She decided to pluck
one from my chest because she had never
seen a hair so thick and wondered why it
didnt grow and curl like the rest of my
chest hair, and it almost just slid right
out. Looking closer, again each "hair"
turned out to be many tiny hairs together.
It didnt seem strange at the time because
it was just "chest hair" but now to find
these same "tufts" on the top of my nose,
that which I assumed were blackheads all
this time. Is there a name for this and
should I be worried?

Cluster hairs are normal. On most people
they are blond go unnoticed. Both men and
women have them.
