Hello purple,

i have used soft classical music playing via the radio all night long. Seems to work for me!

I take a large dose of calcium (1200 mg) within an hour after dinner and that puts me to sleep.

I have obstructive sleep apnea so I use my machine faithfully or my brain does not get enough oxygen and well that's not a pretty sight!

A hot bath in the pm seems to wake me up instead of putting me to sleep but I have heard that a cold shower has the opposite effect. I have not tried it.

Hve u heard it's all about gaining good sleep habits? I struggle, but am sure we all have to adapt to our own mind and body.

I get 6-7 hours of uninterupted sleep currently which is a great improvement for me!

Hey purple,

i don't believe there is a fix from anything you mentioned, except for cpap, and maybe weightloss. However, my cpap recently went out and as a result, the only way I could sleep (and not have any apnea episodes, at least not as frequently) was to sleep on the recliner, without my legs propped, having your head leaned back with a pillow. Now i'm not a doctor and because it works for me, it may not work for you. But it is surely worth a try. However, I absolutely love being on cpap, the quality of sleep compared to what it was pre-cpap, is undescribable. So I would not rule it out (if in fact you or anyone you know is going to). What I mentioned above I only do when cpap isn't an option.

Thanks,
gianluca

Sleep Habits

Purple,

I have had a life of poor sleep habits too. I have gone to doctors to get better ideas and I said the other day...Perhaps I am one of the people who will have to take a benadryl (allergy pill that causes sleepiness) or sleeping pill everynight because eventually I end up with depression due to sleep deprivation.

A big help would be if I did not drink os much coffee but I have tried and keep trying to stop drinking it to no avail...

I just keep telling myself that when I die I will sleep. Have you tried the half d-caff and half regular coffee. I used to drink a lot of coffee, after you drink it for so long the caffeine does not do much or it did not for me. Heck, I am lucky if I get 5 hours sleep per night with the pain and with my jobs.
Good luck!
