I got my first injection in oct and did not have my period for almost 3 months until it was time for my next shot (i loved not having my period it was the whole point of getting the shot) then it came down hard and heavy went to the doctor and they gave me the old its just your body getting use to it song and dance so i got my second shot but now the problem is i have had my period for over a month straight with heavy bleeding and bad cramps to the point i ended up in the hospital and i am now anemic because of the blood lost. i now have to get another hormone shot to stop the bleeding and be put on iron pills and see the doctor more times than i can afford (i have no health insurance) there is no question here just a personal tale of misery and a word of caution for those thinking or currently on depo, GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately some women will respond this way on other types of birth control too. Everyone is different.

I'm anemic right now- (not from birth control) but I feel your pain. You must be miserable!!

Yep I had that with the patch. I did great with the shot but had to switch. I started on the patch and it was bleeding all the time. I had to do alot of testing to find out what was all going on for sure and ended up just switching bc and am doing very well now.
