Please anything you can suggest is much appreciated!!! This is long but I want to make sure you know what's going on!

Since mid-October, I have been battling with what two doctors have diagnosed as your average yeast infection. THe first doctor said that it had been going on for a while adn so she had me on two topical meds-one to repair the slight tear that had been created by the infection and then one to get rid of the infection. Went back for a check up, was told I was all set, fast forward two weeks, a month...same problem.

I have the typical topical symptoms but none of the incredible itchiness, irritation, unbearable effects (I have had one once before and THAT one was bad- this is really different).

So, when I was visiting home, I went ot the same doctor I had gone to before and she said that under the microscope she could barely see anything but managed to pick upa tiny bit of yeast.
Now a one-time pill, gone in a week.
Fast forward two weeks...same symptoms.

Back to first doctor. Oh yes, definitely still same infection. With this one week topical med you will be all set!
Fast forward two weeks...same symptoms.

I have been using a white vinegar and water solution after showering. Cotton underwear. Barely any relations with my partner. We're talking four months with the SAME infection. THe only thing that is saving me is that it's not severe at all thank goodness.

Medicines aren't working. I don't eat lots of sugars and caffeine, etc. Vinegar is being used. Also, I know they say birth control can't really be a cause anymore but is that the case? I've been with the same partner for almost three years and have used the pill for just about all of it. I recently had to change from one generic brand to another but that was probably 97% exactlyt eh same. I'm thinking about stopping it to see if there are any changes but I never had this problem with the first one and the change was incredibly small.

WHAT DO I DO??

This is very frustrating and somewhat scary because I feel very impotent and don't know waht to do. The doctors swear up and down it's a yeast infection (they've done exams and my symptoms are the weird discharge and very slight irritation) but their meds aren't working. I've tried certain natural remedies and they're not working. It's not a normal case and I don't know what to do!!! scared

yeast infections.
Hun, I'm in the same boat that you are! Except I have had my nonstop yeast infection for lot longer! I have two doctor appts this week. I have already got into an argument with my doctor. I don't take birth control, my thyroid is normal, no diabetes, and i came up negative on hiv test. I have the cottage cheese discharge, and the itching with redness. I have tried diflucan several times, gynazole 1, terazol, and various otc cream. I am so fed up. I bet you are too. You should speak with yogahoneybunny. She is very knowledgeable about yeast infections. Good Luck.

Have they checked your sugar? Recurring yeast infection can be from high sugar. And have they checked you cervix to make sure it was clear?

I ask this because I had recurring yeast infections. Finally my Doctor told me he thought it was all in my head so I went to a female doctor.. she checked my sugar. it was fine. But she put a scope on my cervix, and guess what? Irregular spots. If left unattended would have turned into cervical cancer. They where froze off and I never had another yeast infection, That was years ago…

Have them do more test!

shannashaine-thanks so much...honeslty it was really freaking me out and at least i know i'm not hte only one! i'm sorry you have to have it too though:(
if they give you any new magical tips at your appt, will you let me know!? the situations sound pretty similar!

meblonde01-do you think the doctor is able to "check my cervix" during a regular exam? i've had three exams and they've never noticed anything out of the ordinary...just the infection.
Also, I've never had high sugar or any other signs of it. I have heard of the connection between diabetes and yeast infections but I somewhat pushed it to the side. Do you think it's worth it to look into it further? As a young woman with a pretty balanced diet, should it be a concern? Also, would I ask the gyno to do that test or a general practitioner?
THANKS so much!!!!!!

Yes BC can be the cause of yeast infections. Hormones can also be the culprit as well, but I'm not very knowledgeable about how to deal with that.

Even tho you don't think you have a high sugar diet, you might still: things like bread which has yeast in it also feeds your infection, as well as does alcoholic beverages, and carbohydrates. I have also heard that yeast will thrive on even the artificial sweeteners.

You can start an anti-yeast diet and here is a link to starting on that: http://altmedicine.about.com/od/popularhea lthdiets/a/candidadiet.htm

Even tho you don't have much contact with your partner, you should have him tested for yeast and treated for it if he does have it. He could have no symptoms at all, but just be a carrier of it and can be passing it onto you even just with a kiss.

I think I will put a hold on the BC then and see if that changes anything...
If my partner wants to be tested for a yeast infection would he go to a general practioner? Just a regular ol' doctor? Would it be the same for me if I want to check my sugar?

same boat
I'm relieved that there are other women experiencing this problem, although it's terrible that it has been so hard for us to find answers! I started getting yeast infections about 2 months ago, and to date have gotten 3 about 2 weeks apart. My gyno is on vacation this week (how convenient...) but I hope to ask for more tests to be done as well. It's most annoying to live this way, one minute things are fine, the next, you feel the darn thing coming and know what's to follow next.

boric acid
I suffered from the same problem for the last two years until 3 months ago when I found out about boric acid, i 've been using yeast arrest capsules made of boric acid (you have to insert them into the vagina) the last day of my period and the following two days and these have been my first 3 months free of infection in a long time, they are cheap and for me they really worked.

Boric acid long term?
I have been suffering from recurrent yeast infections monthly for about 16 years. After all the Gyn visits and myriad failed treatments (nothing keeps them away for more than a month), the only thing that sort of works for prevention for me is boric acid vaginal suppositories (mentioned above). I say "sort of" cuz I'm sitting here with an infection as I write. But I do wonder if there is any contraindication for such long term use of it? But so far it's my only hope! I will try the regime mentioned above, right after my period, as opposed to waiting to see signs of an infection.
