ok ladies i know a lot of people out there use these things and i don't really know which to pick. i've looked all over the internet and found a few things.

Lady cup, Mooncup (UK), Lunette, as for others i don't know. i know about the Diva cup they only send in the US and Canada.

i'm looking for what you like the best and do you think the disposable cups are better? they can be used during sex so that there is no mess i heard.

and is it really as easy as they say? i'm using the nuva ring right now and just hope it doesn't mess anything up. Confused

anyways thanks ahead of time.

i wouldn't use the disposible ones cos they'd be bad for the environment.
one of the best things about a menstrual cup is you don't need to keep buying stuff - one cup last your for many many years! it is cheaper and easier this way. if you get disposible ones you are missing out on this, imo. plus i'm pretty sure they can't be used during sex. where did you hear this? a menstrual cup doesn't sit high enough in the vagina for it to be possible to have sex while wearing one.

i use the mooncup, personally. it is made of silicone. the only difference between the different brands is that some of them are made with different materials. that and maybe very subtle differences in design, but they are all the same i think! my mooncup works fine for me! just make sure you buy the right size, there is one size for ladies under the age of 40 or who haven't given birth, and one for ladies who have given birth, or are over 40. x

oh yes i know most of these things. i tend to do a lot of looking up. lol and as for the disposable ones you can wear during sex because unlike the reusable ones it sits higher up in the vagina. i found out through the instead website video. i just can't pick. but i think i'm going to go with the reusable for the sake of not having to buy anything anymore! lol well tanks anyways i was thinking more about the moon cup too. Smile we'll see how it work... when i can get one. yes

wow, ok. i checked that up on the site, too. i suppose the rim of the softcup must be really soft, then. don't know if i'm convinced though! i still think it would be felt, or his penis would dislodge it! me, when i'm getting frisky with my bf, i just go to the bathroom and take it out Smile

let us know what you end up getting and what you think of it anyway!

I love my DivaCup. It's strong and durable and washes clean in rubbing alcohol. It saves tons of money in disposable tampons or pads. The only disadvantage is that I have frequent vaginal yeast infections, and the cup seems to make them worse.

Sad

woo, another cup user!

i thought the cup would be better if you are plone to yeast infections, because tampons are absorbant cotton so they would make a hospitable environment for yeast infections to grow. whereas the cup is not like this.

me personally, the problem i had with my cup was i was prone to urinary track infections, and i think the cup didn't help. i think cos at the time i had only just started using it and it was such a novelty that i was taking it out and putting it in all the time! whereas now i am careful only remove it for emptying when it is neccessary - once in the morning, once in the evening. so i no longer get irritated down there and utis are no longer a problem.

ouch >_<

well i heard a lot about the diva cup but i live in Italy and i looked on their website. they only ship to the US and Canada. maybe next time i come out there i'll see about buying one of them. as for the yeast infections, (my friend is an ex nurse/doctor) she says that as long as you clean it often and not just by wiping it off or rinsing it off, but actually use some kind of soap, you shouldn't get this problem that much. but it's still an issue. i mean it's not like when in public you can go out side the stall and wash out your cup. O_O lol but try and keep some kind of disinfecting wipes and a bottle of water to rinse off any chemicals after wiping it. idk just a suggestion. thanks too for the reply. Smile

oh and the only reason my friend is an ex nurse/doctor is she couldn't stand the hours and all the rest of the nasty things like the pay. lol just so you know. XD

I use the cup, too. It is flexible and I can also gauge HOW much I am bleeding, which is pretty useful for counting the days of my menstrual cycle and predicting ovulation (eventually for when we TTC).

lol it's ok. i just heard of it about a week ago. the menstrual cup is a cup you put into your vagina during your period. it collects all the blood. so you never have to use pads or tampons again. also it's better for your body. tampons can give you tss (toxic shock syndrome) and the cup has not yet been proven to give anybody tss. tampons also (i think, not sure on the exact number now) about 1/3 of the liquid a tampon absorbs if your natural vaginal fluid. this can tend to make you really dry at time. plus pads and tampons both have harmful chemicals in them to make them absorbent, this also includes bleach! that's just not something i want to keep putting in to myself. beside tampons go so far up they end up giving most women cramps and they only absorb fluid, that means all blood colts and what else will be there, but not in the tampon.

ah Laughing sorry i tend to go on about things like this. anyways try to do some research about it on google. you'll find a lot of things about it. you might even want to get one. but if you really want to know more just ask. i looked up about it for days. i believe i know a lot. i just don't know which to pick. Oo lol ok bye

I to never heard of this cup and i have been around a long time mmmm its very interesting, do you feel them inside you! can your hubby feel them! if you can get disposable ones, i live in Canada now so i am going to look into it, sounds like it may be an Healthy hazzard for some women 'but i also like to try it out, i am not prone to infections so do you think it would be okay girls, or could it possibly bring an infection on, thanks for the info on this, i have found out some great things on the forums, and everyone is so supportive and kind

I use divacup as well.

You can probably feel it if you think about it, but it's not much different than tampons in that sense. It's certainly not uncomfortable if you put it in right. (they are a little tricky to get in right at first but you get used to it)
As far as health goes, I think it's less likely to give you TSS or infections because there's not cotton up there collecting bacteria and such, and drying and irritating your vagina. I've found that the cup leaves my vagina feeling much happier than tampons did. I have never had a problem with infections. Read what mylove4u said, she explained it.

Divacup can't be worn during sex, but that's not a biggie, just take it out and then have sex! And I really liked that I only have one that lasts me a long time, so I agree that the disposable ones seem a little counter intuitive. I love that I can just clean it out and I'm good to go. I don't have to spend money on tampons every month, and I don't have to carry extras around with me, and I'm not polluting the environment with my menstrual needs! Divacup is available in canada and I love it.

Instead cup
I have actually used the disposable instead cup, but that was years ago. I found that they were too large, and very hard to insert right. Kind of like an illfitting diaphram. ohh, and yes your partner can feel them. I have always been curious about the reusable kind.

With the re-useable kind, all you need to do to wash it is soak it in alcohol. It's flexible and comes in handy when traveling, too. My cup came in a cloth bag for carrying.

You know, I really always wanted to try a cup but every time its 'that time of month' I never cave in and do it. I bet it'd be so much more convenient since I'm usually on the run and bringing along extra tampons/changing them is never fun

Yeah --- and a good friend of mine once scared me off of tampons. She pointed out the fact that for millenia women have been bleeding with the force of gravity, and that tampons absorb rather than allow the blood to release downward...thereby potentially blocking the endometrial release. It just seems CLEANER to me to use the Cup, I guess.

Yeah. I also hate it when its the end of my period and there is enough blood where I want to wear a tampon because otherwise it would stain my underwear/I'd have to wear a pad (which I am not a huge fan of), but its not enough blood to really fill up the tampon so it feels so weird pulling it out and I almost feel like cotton particles are staying stuck to my insides. Haha, I don't know, I feel like a cup would just catch it and I wouldn't have to worry about that.

Pads are OK, but I think that they are smelly and generally sloppy, too. I've found that I use the cup during my heavy days and then pads at the beginning and end of the menstrual cycle. The first time was odd getting the cup to fit inside the opening to the cervix, but once in ... you can't even feel it!
