Just thought I should warn anyone that you can get yeast infections in your mouth. I had no idea that was possible, but I got one when I was 15.

Basically, a friend of mine had a yeast infection and ignored it. Her boyfriend perform oral sex on her and then made out with me (she let him)

I ended up getting a fuzzy white area on my tongue and it would sting whenever I had salty foods. I finally got it checked out and my doctor informed me it was a yeast infection. I gt prescribed antibiotics, steroids, and some liquid antibiotic. It healed up within 2 weeks.

Yeast Infections.
In response to your post, I have heard that people can get yeast infections in their mouth. I never had one but I have heard of it. I think it's called thrush of the mouth. I currently am in a sticky situation with a vaginal yeast infection. I have had a vaginal yeast infection for a long time now-years. I have been to my doctor several times, and I even tried other doctors. I have been given an hiv test, diabetes test, and thyroid test. They are all negative. This yeast infection is mild to moderate. It is always present except during my period. My doctor claims that the yeast infection is localized and that it is not a serious thing. I went to my reg md because I gave up on my gynecologist. I don't know what to do! The reason I got the yeast infection in the first place was because I took antibiotics for a sinus infection a long time ago. I have a strong feeling that this yeast infection is actually dangerous and that my ignorant doctors just don't care about my well being. If I told you how many years I had this yeast infection you would be shocked. My doctor actually told me that I should be okay because the infection did not spread to my mouth. But I am sure that it is not healthy for me to still have it. I have tried all the otc creams, diflucan, and gynazole 1. Nothing worked. I am so embarrased of this. I also found two people besides me that have had a nonstop vaginal yeast infection for years. If anyone has any advice.....please let me know.

Extremely eHealthy
Try probiotics. Go to a natural food store that sells supplements and get probiotics. Probiotics are the normal bacterial flora that usually lives in our bodies. Antibiotics wipe out the bacteria and that allows the yeast (also in our bodies) to overgrow and take over. You can take the capsules and you can open a few into warm water and use it as a vaginal wash, something like a douche. This will allow the normal bacteria a chance to get back into balance. This will work but may take some time. Be diligent and take the probiotics 3xday. I hope this is helpful. BTW you can find powdered probiotics. Be sure to ask for a reputable brand - Jarrow Formulas, Twin Lab, Enzymatic Therapy just to name a few.

Now you know that you certainly CAN get a yeast infection in your mouth, you probably want to know how/why and more importantly how to cure that yeast infection.

Yeast infections
I wonder if it more common to have thrush of the mouth or thrush of the vagina?

in reply to Sinonim.
Sinonim, have they ever treated your thrush with Diflucan? Perhaps multiple doses?
