Galacteria? breasts producing fluid and pain
Posted: 02-14-08 18:38pm

HI all.....I am a single mother of a 12 year old boy. I will be 33 this month. My breast milk never dried up. I still can express fluid from my breasts. Never really bothered me before, but now, its starting to hurt. Several years ago, while i knew i still had fluid in my breasts, I wouldnt bother squeezing it out, because they didnt hurt and just left them alone. So its not like I was creating more of this fluid the way you create more breast milk from breast feeding. So I was hoping it would dry up.

But now, I feel pain with this fluid and the only way to get relief is to squeeze some fluid out. Its sometimes yellow, sometimes greenish, and other times, its the same color as breast milk...whether it is breast milk or not, i dont know!

Especially when I am menstruating, my breasts get very sore, I can barely do any cardio, because the bouncing hurts them too much. The pain gets to be so much that i have to squeeze some of this fluid out, as it relieves the pain. I find my left breast is bothering me more than my right. Today I was experiencing a prickly type pain. So I squeezed some fluid out of my breast, and that seemed to help. But other times I will feel burning, or itching.

A few months back, I squeezed out some fluid and it was brownish in color....it caused me to believe that it was blood mixed with the fluid. I went to the doctor here. But I live in a small town, and you get sent out for everything. I went for a mammogram, and the results didnt show anything. Then I had an ultrasound done, but my breasts were dense and they couldnt see anything. They tested my thyroid as well. Can anyone tell me what the heck is going on? I would like some relief!! Does anyone know a way this fluid can be dried up?

I do not take birth control, nor am i on any medications. if anyone has any kind of input, i would appreciate it! Very
Happy

Welcome to ehealthforum!

Are you telling that your breast never stop leaking since the time you stopped breastfeeding?
Is that more obvious when you have your period?
Are you experiencing infrequent or light menstrual periods?
Do you have swelling and redness of the breasts along with pain?

thanks for responding! to answer your questions:

Its not that my breasts leak at all, its that they fill with fluid and sometimes squeezing it out relieves the pain. (sometimes burning, sometimes prickly feeling)

no swelling or redness...just that "full" feeling when your breasts are full and its time to breastfeed..only thing i can compare it to...

Yes they hurt more while menstruating, and my periods are quite heavy...along with very painful cramps. I was hoping that with age the cramps would have died down a bit but i guess not lol

and my periods have always been irregular...30-45 days apart.

Can you get checked for hormone imbalance (if you have been already checked for thyroid hormones, ask to be checked for prolactin hormone)?
Chronic breast stimulation, such as from frequent breast self-exams (only once per month) or sexual activity, can cause nipple discharge.
