Would a 275 lb patient with joint pain and
gait abnormalities be better off walking
in water or cycling. Is there an example
of aquatic exercises that would be good
for this?

Water is probably the best thing for you
since you have joint pain. You should
talk to your doctor before starting any
exercise to make sure that you won't do
more harm to yourself by taking it up.
I know that cycling can hurt your joints
because it isn't friction free. Water
exercise is the lowest impact kind that
you can do. There are lots of water
aerobics that you can do....either join a
class or look up a routine for yourself.
