I have a problem that I am hoping that you all can help me out with. I have three lights on the outside of my house: two on either side of my garage door and one in the entry way for the front door. The one for the front door has the worst problem of all the three: I have all these birds that like to sit ontop of them, mostly at night, but sometimes during the day, and it's really annoying because of course, bird droppings get all over my lights and the house, and the concrete. Besides being a mess, it's a health hazard for my kids. Not only that, we even had one bird that actually flew into the house when we opened the door. I can't get rid of the lights since I live on a dark street, so I really need them... it got a little better after I removed the bushes in my front yard, but they are just as annoying as ever now. Anyone have ANY ideas as how to get rid of these stupid things? (Getting a cat is out of the question of course ) Thanks!

They have some stuff they sell at Ace Hardware that keeps them away. I dont know the details or name tho. I would shoot one with pellet gun or hit one with a stick, birds are smart and they should get the message.

or a scarecrow kind of thing. you could put some chimes or something out there that makes noise that scares them.

In New Orleans they glue or use concrete to attach shards of broken bottles to there light poles and fences and that way the birds cant perch on them. Plus its colorful and looks really cool.

No offence to anyone else, but this is a really good idea! I don't know how I am going to do it, but maybe I will if I can't figure anything else out.

The problem with the sprays is that you can't put them anywhere but on your lawn. They will ruin metal, housing and concrete. Plus I got one to spray around my yard and boy did it stink like heaven and I don't mean heaven!

I can't shoot a gun, because I don't have one, and also it's forbidden within the city limits. Plus they fly away when you come around. I just can't stand out there all day in the cold and keep them off Razz

I did want a chimes, but there's nowhere to hang them on the outside of the garage.

How about getting a small piece of chicken wire of barbed wire and rapping it around the top so the birds cant land there??? Do you have a hot glue gun? That would be a good way to get either the colored glass or the wire to stay...
