Sore breasts

My breasts have been sore and slighly swollen for about 2-3 weeks now. I'm currently on Portia (Nordette) birth control, which I skip the sugar pills so as to not have a period. This is making me nervous, as I became pregnant many years ago while on OrthoTryciclin and the first symptom I had was sore swollen breasts. But now I don't get my period to reassure me that I'm not pregant. I took one home pregnancy test last week, and another yesterday- both negative. However, since I do not get my period, thus cannot judge when I may or may not have 'missed' it, I don't know if I've taken the tests too soon. If I were to go to the doctor for a test, how early can their tests determine pregnancy vs. a home test? Am I being too paranoid?? If not caused by pregancy (or period, since I dont' get mine) what else could be causing the sore breasts?

Relax! Sore breasts are common when you're on birth control, especially if you're skipping your period. Yes, they can be a sign of pregnancy, but more often they're not. You're probably not pregnant, especially if you've been taking your pills correctly and you haven't been on antibiotics or anything like that.

On birth control that made me stop getting my period, I've used monthly pregnancy tests just to make sure. You can get the cheap ones, they all work the same. Smile If you're still concerned in a few weeks, take another test.
